  • Whats the crack here then?

When checking over the s/h trex 700n fbl I've just bought I noticed no regulator on the cyclic servos? - futaba bls 451's after speaking to the old owner he ran them direct as they can handle it? They are great servo's! how much truth is in this? Sounds risky?? It also has futaba S9254 on the tail with PS01 RS 5.0 (in line drop down?) and DS 610 on throttle is this also ok??, Also noticed binding on the push rods to the elevator which he hadn't noticed before? - could it be the alloy servo mount might be for a 700e?? if anyone can help shed some light - it would be much appreciated, Many thanks Stunt Daddy.

All depends on what he was running them with, straight from LiPo or LiFe? Straight from LiPo they're not going to last long, straight from LiFe, fine in my book the 451's are rated to 6.0v. Sounds like he knew what he was doing with the dropdown in line and the 610 is fine for throttle. Why have you got binding, is it just not that your settings with whatever fbl unit is fitted are different to his.

He was using an outrage nrg 2cell lipo 5000mah!Its reading 7.79v at 60% capacity! You recon best option to go LiFe? - not had one of them before! Don't really want to crash and burn after only a few flights of this baby! Sorry photo is on the pi** but I'm sure you should be able to see the elevator arm striking / bending the push rods and its not running parallel with the frames! IMG_2793.jpg

you need to space that servo out to stop the rod hitting the arm

i'd check the servo spec as if i remember correctly futaba altered the operating voltage of the bls servos
but a reg and reducing the voltage will give a longer life on the servos

Straight LiPo isn't right for the servos at all, severley reduced life. Not saying LiFe is the best option but an option, I prefer them as they are uncomplicated and you have less to go wrong and simpler wiring.

Theres defo something not right with the linkage, I just can't see what, exactly the same linkage and setup on my 700, there should be at least 5mm of clearance between the links and the A arm. As another check there is 5mm from the inside of the frame to the front of the horn. Is the ally servo mount the right one, is the servo mount directly against the ally part, IE no rubber grommet.

Might try a new servo mount just in case this ones been mucked about with! If that don't work I have an old frame I could cut up I guess! Looks like a reg it is then! - any recommendations??

it is the servo spacing the futaba bls servos sit lower than a std servo
use the quick uk, thunder tiger, hirobo etc servo plate to space the servo
all the bls servo's i've used need spacing out

Robbe have listed the BLS451 as 2S capable for a while now: http://www.mhm-modellbau.de/pdf/tech...rvos-robbe.pdf

Futaba have remained rather more conservative though.

He also has throttle jocky on board - no idea? Will b fun Took a few more picks!!photo 1.JPGphoto2.JPG Like you say things don't seem to add up! - is the servo lead supposed to be outside the frame??

Cheers Mark _T I think? never was very good at German You wouldn't happen to know if they are 200Hz for setting up beast X ?? I was also needing to know the pulse length? and frequency? of the tail servo its a Futaba S9254 - not always sure if I can trust old google!, don't want to balls it up and fry the things!

The BeastX manual has the BLS451 at 200Hz, but personally I'd not push them that hard if you are running them straight from a 2S lipo, seems like it is asking for trouble.

The 9254 is a 1520 servo and the BeastX manual has it at 333Hz.

Personal choice only, but if it was my model I'd probably put a LiFe pack on their instead of Lipo.

Cheers man! This fbl sure is mixed up! I have no idea about LiFe batts regarding size, flight time, charging etc any tips?? other than google it!

                            Hey.

I may be wrong but that ali elevator servo mount looks like a tail servo one to me, it looks too shallow as the right one puts the servo disk much closer to the opposite side frame. In turn keeping the control rod runs parallel to the side frames..

It's the wrong mount. It's too narrow and the balls should be on the inside of the wheel facing the servo, not the outside, see below:
