  • How do i set-up this thing?!

Hi, pretty new to all this stuff, and my first post here.

I picked up one of these recently for cheap:

This thing is so unstable though, almost impossible to fly.

The body of the heli rocks whilst in flight making it very hard to control.

Is there a list of things to check/tighten/loosen to enable this to fly?

    Thanks in advance!

To set that up just follow the instruction manual carefully and it should be OK. Without a manual however, you're going to have a hard time getting anywhere and frankly it'll end in disaster unless you can enlist an experienced flier to help you. Try googling it as well.
    Trex 450 SEV2.
Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
    Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )
mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
    Several planks, gathering dust.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

Thats why it is difficult to fly, because it is cheap!!!!

Helicopters are inherently unstable and if you got a pile of dung they will be even worse, I expect the heli is how the manufacturer intended it to fly lift off crash a few seconds later, repair rinse repeat, after they have milked you of a couple of hundred quid you will go and buy a heli of better quality or abandon the hobby (-:

Can't find a manual, might be worth emailing them and seeing if they've got one

WaveyDavey - the model appears to be the Amax 3019:

            >> 3019 4CH 2.4G remote control metal gyro helicopter

That video looks very stable and controllable, mine is NOT like that. I do actually have the manual for this, but it is very vague - and translated (poorly) from Chinese...

I do appreciate this model is at the cheap end, but you still expect it to actually fly ok.

Any advice on what i could check would be great.

Take a look at some of the setup vids for the trex 450. I know it's different but the overall principle of the mechanical setup is the same. Level swash, pitch on the blades etc. the individual bits will be different the throttle setup etc. maybe wort explaining what it does when you try to spool up and take off, see if we can narrow it down
