Blade 400

Hi all!

Ive been flying a Belt CP for a few months now and Ive now got my eye on a Blade 400, the cost is around £270, Ive looked around the net and it seems to be a good Heli and the logical next step up.
My question is
no1. Blade 400 good or bad?
no2. is there anything else at that price to look at?
no3. Ive been saving for what seems a life time so I dont want to wait any longer

From what I've heard around here you may not be going 'up' as such with the B400, technically speaking from what they say it should be the next up from the BCX which I have, though I'm told it's a twitchy little blighter. Guys who fly them all can say more I'm just going by what I read on here.

Yes Ive heard the same thing but I think with a bit of time and patience it could be a nice Heli to fly.
As ive said Im flying the Belt CP and I find that a bit sluggish.
With any luck I should have a blade for the weekend (bet it rains with high winds)

I have plumped for a 400 based on the adjustability of the DX6i i.e. being able to adjust it to my beginner status.
Not something you were able to do with your Belt CP.

Not something you were able to do with your Belt CP.

I started looking at the Blade400 threads because I was wondering about one maybe in the summer to use as a camera ship. Figured it may have more poke than my current CX helis have.

I've more or less decided on it now. I really like the appearance of that little lady... How easy is it to setup going on from Coax helis?

I spent a couple of months on the Twister Bell 47 before buying my Blade. I can hover the Blade but I still spend a lot of time being flown by it, rather than the other way round. There is a lack of set up detail in the handbook to get you over the inevitable crashes, be on good terms with your model shop or know folk that can assist, such as on here.

I may get shot down in flames here...but an analogie for me is...its like taking your driving test in a 1.1 VW golf, then being expected to race an F1 car around Silverstone. The experts make it look very easy....don't be fooled. But it is possible, cos everyone else starts this way so it seems.

Shouldn't think you'll get shot down for that. I know what you mean though, I know how it felt at first on Phoenix, watch people do tic tocs and inverted hover, and in the meantime struggle with the simplest of tasks, then try a 3d heli and it would take off, and disappear into the far distance with no wind at all, before you could even think about stick movements to get it back. Hopefully the real thing isn't quite that bad, but when I order mine I'd already made up my mind to buy a loc8tor to go with it. Just in case I can't find it for any reason. I still think a local club if I can find one, and/or and instructor.
