  • Hi from a newbie in Kent

Hi all and thanks for all the great info on the forum.

I am coming back to RC after a 10+ year break.

I used to use IC cars and gliders regularly and flew full sized gliders for 3 years.
Even had a toy with a 60 sized IC heli before uni got in the way.

I wanted some opinions on what is a good heli to learn on with some background knowledge. I have been looking at the esky belt cp V2 for its price and spares availability, I want something that is collective pitch.

    Thanks

Hi (insert name here lol). Welcome to the world of deep frustration, euphoria, depression and empty wallets hahaha.
If you want a stable learner heli, the best way to go is the align 450, if you want 450 size. They may cost more initially, but you ARE going to end up with one anyway. Blade 130x is good for bouncability when you're learning, but get some D/R's and expo into it, as its a twitchy bugger, but great when you get the hang of it's foibles. Or the blade 450 3d is cheap too ( try kings Lynn models) they were 120- 130 quid a little while ago.

Good luck whichever way you go.
    Cheers.

Hi from a newbie in Kent

Avoid the esky. For parts and spares availability, look at Blade or Align.

Hi from a newbie in Kent

I can't advise on a good heli to learn on now as things have improved a lot but I learnt with an esky belt cp and I wouldn't do it again

Welcome to the world world of mood swings, my best advice is stay well clear of anything from esky! I had the same advice and ignored it then paid the consequences.

Where are you from in kent?

There seems to be a common consensus when it comes to esky, I will take that on board and look at align n blade.

@Ritchieme I am between sevenoaks and maidstone, been having a look around on the net to see what clubs are out there, are you part of any and what can you recommend.

            Cheers

              Welcome!

Id avoid the Esky, I'd personally go with an Align model. Very capable, good value and spares are widely available.

Ashford radio aeromodellers is a little to far to be practical for me.
Near me there is eynesford MHC, North Kent Nomads, invicta modellers, tonbridge model flyers and wealden flyers.
Any feed back on the above clubs.

I had an ESKY Honeybee King 2 as my first heli. Almost gave up the hobby after 4 weeks but luckily decided to try an Align 450 SE V2. Was figure eighting within a few weeks and never looked back.
