  • Books For Beginners ??

Can anyone recommend any good books on this rediculous and expensive hobby of ours??
Magazines don't really go deep enough into the set up process and which bit does what, and why.
As a complete beginner I can hover my Blade 400 around the front lawn in between crashes, but I would like to know more about the mechanics and physics involved in it all. I think a background knowledge would help me with the flying process as well as the repair process as the Blade does not come with a rebuild manual.
I've heard people say inhibit your giro and run 90% on this that or the other, and, your yaw rate governs rotational giro input. Is this some sort of code ?????????
There is so much information to take in and I wish I had a book that I could look to for at least a translation...

problem with the books are they get very out dated very quickly....

but there are a few, just have a little look on amazon.co.uk and there are some there. but all the information u need is on the net or on the phone to a club member really!

there's also some video series that go through set-ups ect...

Everything can be learned through the forums, and with online video's. The best video's can be found in the video section of

If you have any questions or anything you don't understand, I am sure people on this forum will do their best to help - they have for me anyway.

If you want a book or books to read see if you can get the two written by Russ Deakin. His first book "A Comprehensive Guide To Model Helicopter Aerobatics" details the mindset required if you really want to suceed as opposed to just going out and banging the sticks around. His second "3D Helicopter Flying"

Although helifreak is a good source of information, from the link above I didn't see one mention on how to take care of your model. What to do at the start and end of a session. Time intervals before checking different parts, etc. There is no entry for a servicing regime. Don't kid me on that you'll crash before any parts wear out.
