Bizarre event today

Well it was a flying day once again so off we went up the field.

Had several flights with my 700 today then out of the blue this happened.

Hell of a click from the back of the 700 in flight and the tail went bonkers.

Actually got it down while the tail was rotating at a hell of a speed to find the blades had gone...........

Yes both blades broken and I was left with the stubs in the blade grips.

Never ever seen this happen before, no other marks to say they had hit anything just gone.

V-Blades. I thought they were supposed to be good.

Had them quite a while Paul so maybe time has taken its toll.

Spent some time looking for a reason as to why they both broke but still a mystery.??

I guess the first one broke and then clouted out the other on the way round.!!

well i have to say never seen that before, good save Time, i have had a few tail failiures lately and got them all down safe too, but defo makes you squirm when it happens

I had a similar thing happen and it turned out to be bearing failure on the tail output shaft might be worth checking tim ( good save by the way )

TBH I fitted another set of blades up the field and gave it a beating again and it was fine.

I reckon those tails had done enough and failed.

Hi Walter. Bearings are all brand new as is the heli, It was its maiden voyage today on its 4th flight from new.

I was using some old tail blades (these) for the purpose of practicing.

good save! Crazy, i wonder what caused it? Quite bizarre but theres got to be a logical reason.

do you have a lot of movement in the crappy align tail unit....maybe excessive vibration. check the v bar event log for extreme vibs warnings.

get yourself a quick uk tail unit and be done with it. oh and the screws wont snap either....bonus.....

Having just ploughed in my 500 after a tail ejection. Can you guys give me some advice on how to get it down in less than 2 or more pieces ?
