  • EDGE Tail blades ballance issue

    Hi all,

Just been playing around with the mini v bar 'Spektrum Analyzer' on my Logo 400

Turns out I had some vibration @ 175.5Hz the reading was 8283

Started stripping the heli down and found my tail blades were causing the issue, these blades are brand new!

Fitted the original Logo 400 blades and the vibration went down to 758.

Surely you should not have to ballance an £18 set of new CF Tail Blades

Would like to know your experiences please

Should I try to ballance them, or should I take them back (problem is I dont have the packaging any more, they are only 2 weeks old, and have 2 flights on them)

At 758 I would say that figure is still too high. What is the figure with no tail blades? Did you remove the tail push rod to allow the blades to self centre? It could be one of the grips is locking up causing the blades to fly out of track.

With no blades in there was practically no vibration.

Yes I did remove the servo arm, so the blades would self track

Just tried it again with the Logo blades, and kept the blades loose ish, now getting 262

When I tried the Edge blades they were also loose ish

Would you advise I try and ballance the Edge blades, bearing in mind they are only 72mm long, just tested the centre on gravity with a trex250 flybar, they are slightly out, difficult to do accuratley with them being so short.

Tried them on mt Trex250 blade ballancer, and they are way out !!!!

Not sure what to do ?

If the blades are badly out of balance I would be inclined to return them. I see no reason why carbon blades should be badly out of whack.

If loosening the blades helped then just maybe you had them too tight and they didn't centre correctly.

How do you get to see the 'post flight' vibration report?

You need to remove the main blades, connect up to the mini v bar, click on the Spektrum Analyzer icon (next to the trim icon bottom right) then spool up the heli to running speed, holding the skids.

Make sure you disconnect the tail servo arn so the tail blade can self centre

You can then see any vibration.

                Cool eh ?
