  • KBDD failure

I've been flying with the KBDD tail blades for about a year now and have had pretty good results with them. However last weekend one of them snapped off in flight, a couple of seconds later the second one flew off due to the imbalance.
Looking at them where they snapped, they looked very much like a cast alloy that has been broken in half, crystalline in structure.
I don't know if it's because I've had them out in all temperatures this year, and going from -5 degrees to a warm environment is causing them problems. Or whether it's ageing and UV exposure that is an issue.

I still have some spares that I intend to use, but out of curiosity I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience?
Unfortunately I've binned them so can't show pictures of what I tried to explain above.

Mine don't usually stay in 1 piece long enough to suffer from wear and tear

I've been flying the KBDD paddles and tails on my 700 for over a year now. Same one's with multiple crashes under their belt

I also used them on my 600, 450 SE V2 and 450 Pro. Im surprised to hear this. Hope the damage was not too bad

They were 30-50 size on my Rex 600 Toolman.
I've had them on my 450 for a couple of years without a problem Tom, mind you that doesn't get out as much as it used to. I do a lot of pirouetting anyway, so no damage, just a bit of a WTF??? moment, as I saw one blade exit stage right in a hurry, closely followed by the other blade.
