  • Tail Blades for trex 550 dfc

What tail blades are a good replacement for the std align blades. Heli has the std motor and main blades.

Most 95mm tail blades will do you fine bud. I run the Aligns on most of my helis, cant fault them for the money
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

I dont think you can bud, I think 95 is the biggest you can get away with. Why are you considering it?? Are you having tail issues??

I am trying to set up a vbar but having trouble with the end point numbers at the same time as getting the correct pitch at hover. Someone suggested blades but just wondered what people thought. Cheers

Blades will have no influence on the vbar set up. What figures are you getting?

Hmm im not up with setting up a V-bar, but I wouldnt get too hooked up on numbers.

On all my FBL units ive always set the tail up as you would a normal gyro. IE set the tail mechanically in rate mode so it hovers as close to hands free as poss on the tail. And then re-adjust the end points and switch to HH mode.

Matt, RcRotaryMadness may be a good one to ask as he has a 550e with a V-bar, so would know more than me on the subject.

But ive not had any problems with the Align tails in the years ive been using them.

Im getting travel of about 80 and 125 if I have 2 degrees tail rotor pitch against the main rotor torque. My control loop is showing 10 and 100??? Just cant seem to get it right at all.

Is it that the numbers aren't in the green on the slider? Only changing rudder servo horn hole distance will remedy this not tail blades. At the end of the day you can only get as close to perfect as you an get. Having differing numbers is down to the 2 degrees offset on the tail blades.

It says that the numbers should be between 80 and 120 for travel but be quite close together, but the control loop numbers should also be below 60 I think or the gyro isnt getting the pyro rate required. Was just hoping bigger tail blades might give me more authority and lower the 100 number I am getting in the control loop for a start.
