  • Another lesson learned today.

Earlier this week I purchased a G4 E720 airframe from Sam Burville (thanks mate) and quickly got it built up ready to fly.

Since Wednesday I gave been chasing a severe tail wag, That bad it almost shook itself silly.

After the usual checking for knackered bearings/bent tail drive shaft/lowering the tail gain which made zero difference I finally found the problem today.

A brand new set of Align 105mm tail blades that came with my 700DFC seemed a good idea giving them a good home on the new G4 when I built it.

Seems not, changed the blades today and 100% perfect at all rpm.

I seem to recall reading about some people suffering with tail issues a while back with Align 700's but its the first time ever I have put a brand new set of tail blades in the bin today.

    Lesson learned.

Don't bin em, balance em. I found NHP tail blades are terrible for balance from new.

I'm with you Tim, if something is not right it gets removed/binned. Just not worth the hassle of trying to balance them, rather just get a set that are balanced out the box.
