I can. Most likely they helped it to break. They stop the flybar from flexing along its length so all the bend is concentrated at the place where it broke - fatigue failure.

            Well saved.

I learnt that lesson too, after seeing various fbl pitch links bending in flight on other peoples helis i put some carbon rod over my pitch links which resulted in all the forces going straight to the ball link which snapped mid flight!

Flybars still break, even without carbon stiffners, but a bit less likely I guess. The flybar twists backwards and forwards with cyclic inputs twice for every blade rotation, so that's 4000 times a minute at 2000rpm. They also carry drag so they lead and lag depending on the dynamics, and most of the bending moment is concentrated just where the flybar exits the cage. Eventually, you get a fatigue failure and it just snaps off. Never had it happen myself, but have seen it. I try to bend the flybar before it snaps!

Flybar stiffeners may well in theory give you sharper control (questionable though), but they also concentrate all the flex at one point on the flybar.
