  • looking for good 325mm woodies...

Hi all - just about to get a Trex 450 SEv2 which is coming with carbon blades...but as I still class myself a 'noob' I think it might be prudent to start with some cheaper woodies and save the CF jobbies for when I'm a little more confident

can anyone recommend a good make / supplier? also - I notice you can get blades at 315,325 and 335....will these all fit on a Trex 450? and what are the advantages of longer/shorter blades?

    thanks in advance!

Best woodies by far are the 325 Pro's that Align do for around £10 a set

I had a set of those and they tracked great and flew nicely on my Mini Titan. but as with all woodies they do not like de-acelerating from 2600rpm to zero in an instant

But then again most blades dont

            305, 315, 325 and 335 length
some measure overall length and some from the bolt hole to tip.
Radix 315 are the same length as align 325.
            335 haven't really caught on.
305's date from the original trex450x and ark400 which had a shorter tail boom.

I have 315 align pro's on my 450x and they are best blades I've ever flown, apart from CF of course. They track well, are well balanced. They are also rugged, they survived 2 crashes, one of which pulled the feathering spindle apart !!!

I have 325s on my SEV2 and they give very positive but predictable flight. I think they are 95% as good as CF, but that is my limited opinion!

I understand midland heli's are selling the 325s for £8.99 a set, bargain!

The 325s are for all trex's XL and up. The 280 plastic and 315 wood are for the 450x because that had a 322mm boom. All other Rex's have a 347mm boom.
                  regards

I taught myself to fly using a 450XL with Align 325 fibre blades. They survived over 100 flights and many, many 'hard arrivals'. I eventually retired them as they were getting very rough due to all the scrapes.
