Just got my onboard Jewel generator

    Just got my onboard Jewel generator

    Having ordered an X-Cell Spectra G, which I'm still waiting for, I ordered a Jewel onboard generator for it as I thought it's no good having 30+ mins or so of fuel time and being restricted by battery capacity.
    It arrived today only 5 days after it was posted from the States and the mounting brackets are made for Raja, who makes and sells them, by MA so that the carbon matches the frames of your heli.
    Just need the damn heli now!!!

    That sounds great, so the onboard generator makes Jewels which you can then sell to pay for repairs / upgrades

    I wish.... What's a Jewel onboard generator then?

      It's a little brushless motor, AXI Gold Line 710Kv, together with a voltage regulator (you can specify what output you want depending on what servo's/RX pack your running) which mounts on top of the engine and keeps your RX pack constantly charged during flight.
      I just thought that with the flight times you can get with a gasser it would be nice not to have to use a huge RX pack. With this you can run small RX pack (1100 - 1400mah) but without fear of it going flat during flight.

        Stick one on top of your leccy motor & keep the lipo topped up. Endless flight. Perpetual motion.

          It would help if you could regenerate on autos, but probably not worth the extra weight of the device.

            The weight isn't so much of an issue with a 23cc engine, as you say though not worth it on a small electric.
