I have a full set of gs alpha instructions which I can scan for you. Just restoring my alpha at the moment, but need a main shaft.

Do you have a GS or is it a nitro?

Mine is basically ready to fly, I just haven't taken it out yet after securing the recoil starter. The stock tailrotor doesn't instill much confidence but it should work OK for the moment and I'll change it to something a bit more sturdy if I end up flying it regularly.

I probably have a spare slotted main shaft. I was collecting Kalt spares for a while and gathered a few things including shafts and various bits so I'll have a look and see what I've got.

Nice thread Sheryl, I'm an out and out 3D pod and boom boy and don't like scale at all. I can appreciate the skill that goes into the building but that's it. Vintage however is really floating my boat and I can see in the future a Lark or something in my fleet. Would love to see a video of it in the air when you maiden it.

I have a gs alpha pod and boom and also a baron with os61 in the 'hang on' longranger fuzz. It's been years since I have had a kalt. I owned a 30mx back when model helicopter world was on issue 2 ! Mr M Briggs borrowed my 30 for a longranger fuselage article, a copy of this is on vhrc website. Had to sell the helicopter when I went to uni, often wondered what happened to it. My othe projects are an unflown falcon mk1 and a jr ergo racing. Apart from that I carry a 250 3G in the car at all times! If you need the manuals scanning I can offer gs alpha petrol, kg22 engine, blackhead rotor head, gs50 manual and some rare kalt fatalities. I have a few spares and would be interested in a mainshaft if you have one. One tip, the maingear of the later plastic baron 30 (not space baron) fits the gs alpha. My gs has the standard tail from a baron, not the omega and with period carbon tail blades works well. Let me know what you'd like for a mainshaft and if you need anything.

Sorry, typo in my post ! iPhone corrected 'catalogue' to fatality ! Apologies for that.

Earlier in the thread there is mention of baron 30. This uses a smaller injection moulded grey gear, so not suitable for any of the larger helis

Cool! You don't see many GS Alphas at all. I have seen more of the earlier Barons but very few Alphas. I also have a .61 Alpha Baron but it turned out to be a bit of an ebay disaster. I have not yet decided what I'll do with it but I doubt I'll keep it unless I can convert it to top start as I can't see myself dealing with the belt start.

Yeah, as a matter of fact I have a Baron 30 and was surprised to find it shares the exact same main / crown gear. I also managed to buy a gear separately a while back as well.

I have the KG22 manual and manuals for the rotorheads but would love to get the actual GS Alpha manual. I do have some literature on it including a nice article from Model Helicopter World and I need to scan some of this in as I started a website of my own and the plan is to start covering some of the Kalt stuff that Joe has yet to get to on his site.

Let me have a look here as it has been a while but I'm nearly certain I have several main shafts and could part with one.

I did speak with someone last year who said he could make up some shafts but he only wanted to do them if he could do about 10 of them and would do them for £12.00 each. I had started to network a bit with some Kalt fans on RR but then it all went quiet.

Thanks, an original shaft would be great and I'd chip in for a batch as any kalt from the 50 size up will accept the part. Having got the engine fired up at the weekend I discovered a crack in the cream plastic return connection on the carb. Walbro carbs are everywhere and £1.70 later I'm waiting for the postman.

Will scan in my manual and will let you know when it's ready.

The belt start should work fine. If the belt is u/s one from a hirobo shuttle will work with a normal Sullivan starter. Just make sure you clip the belt in onto the cooling shroud when running. Early engines with bushings not bearings would suffer with the side load but I will work with a little practice !

I would also like to track down an omega tail unit if possible.

In my box of new spares I have some mx parts if anyone needs them, blade grips and bearings, main gear, head block and flybar block with the mixing arms.

Hi, my gs alpha has had it's 1st test flight ! With period servos and gyro not really doing anything we tested it today. Nhp carbon blades were used. Some issues with the choke closing in flight due to vibration, so I remove it. Hovering completed ! Next is brand new servos and gyro. Will try and post a short video. Regards

Excellent! I admit, I have been very lazy about doing anything with mine. I need to go through it and refresh my memory on where I left off with it. I think it's ready for a test flight, I just wanted to trim a bit of the casing from the tailrotor cable, that's the only thing I remember still wanting to do.

If that''s the same walbro carb airfilter choke thing I got on my gassers then a fibre washer under there stiffens it up..

                            hi all
just got a gs alpha with a stripped main gear but replaced with a mg from a baron 30 all seems ok, just wondered if anyone has any maingears thay may part with, the blades i got with this kit, i think glassfiber named l.m blades with a strange shape at the end almost a square, anybody used these ?
can anybody tell me the best pitch settings for my gs please ?
