  • Radikal LT Warning!!!!

Century Helicopter Products If you have a Radikal with an LT head, please stop flying it until further notice. If you know anyone that owns a Radikal with an LT head, please inform them.

This is straight from Century USA.

I will update as soon as i find out more.

Any Radikals purchased from UK shops would have been the HD not the LT. This is because the HD is the only version available in the UK through the official Channels.

    Hi Asid,

Thanks for the heads up as i have an LT. I have however fitted a Trex 600 head.
Without second guessing could this be to do with the blade grips?
If it is I am glad Century are onto it. At the end of the day safety is paramount.

    Mark.

      Hi Mark

Century called me last night but i missed it.

I don't know if it is the grips.

      It may be the hub.

I will keep you all informed though

More issues with the Radikal then?
"Anger and Frustration bring the best out of my flying ability.. because generally I don't give a shit either if the machine hit's the deck or stay's in the air - both will accomplish satisfaction, but most of all it exerts the feeling of flying conservatively. - Callum"

Weeeeell, probably no more than some of the issues with the early Ely.Qs. And those were pretty trivial compared to the problems with the early (and current) Trex 700's.

(having said that, my Vision Ultimate never had some of the problems reported by others)

            Every heli has its problems

Look at all the problems Aligns have (i.e. tail output shaft failures trex 700) Align don't ever admit to anything or put out a warning. Most manufacturers ignore problems.

The Radikal is a new heli and has some issues that are being addressed/already addressed.

at least Century have acknowledged there could be an issue.

i have just returned from the field after 4 flights with my Radikal and it ran great

i'm speaking to Century as i type

              UPDATE

Century Helicopter Products May 23, 2010
              For immediate release:

Due to one known in-flight failure of a LT blade grip, Century Helicopter Products is issuing a warning to immediately stop the use of all LT blade grips. Other ALL METAL rotor blade grips are ok to fly from Century. If you use another brand head, you assume all responsibility of it...s use.

              LT blade grips

Century Helicopter Products are currently redesigning the LT blade grips for an extreme margin of safety.

We will replace these blade grips at no charge when they are available. The ETA for availability of the LT-NX blade grips will be 2 weeks.

We at Century Helicopter Products know everyone is eager to fly. Therefore, in the meantime, we will offer two options for customers who are not willing to wait.

Option 1) Purchase an all metal rotorhead upgrade CN2516SA at a discount of 40% off $139.95 = $83.97

              Metal Head

Option 2) Upgrade to an HD head for $40.00.

              HD GRIPS

To qualify for these discounted prices, proof of purchase must be provided of a Radikal G20 LT version.

We at Century Helicopter Products take safety very seriously.

If you know someone running these blade grips on a Radikal G20, please inform them of this warning!

The replacement grips are totally free.

Other manufacturers would never do this

OK Align wouldn't.but if memory serves Blitz set upgraded parts free to Avro owners when it wasn't a failure, just an improvement? We're also talking US company with US litigation here.

Actually Kasama never acknowledged any manufacturing/design problems to the best of my knowledge

The other half took ill and was in hospital. She is still recovering. I felt guilty about going but she was ok with it. I still felt bad though.

Saturday went bad for me. I spoke to Paul (Raptor heli2) on sat night he advised it would probably be too late by the time i got there.

I tried anyway. I had to do some work related stuff that took too long and by the time i got there it would've been 4:30pm.

I apologise for this. I will be at the Aberdeen show in a few weeks and there will be give aways there and at other fly ins.

                        Once again i am sorry.
