    Ok if you are thinking of a pre made y lead then yes i agree more connections to fail,but if you wire up and solder a y lead yourself you eliminate the chance of a connector failure .The diode is to stop any one battery simply draining into the other.This will provide a single input into your rx,the Perkins regulator is available from JPerkins via any model shop and very good value at £7.0 ish <very reliable and run cool> also can be used for 4.8 or 6volts with an input of upto 5s lipo.Powerbox equipment is good but a bit bulky and overpriced/hyped ?
    When i can re charge my camera i will post some photos of installed units,

    Gotcha.. but I'd be using dual rx inputs anyway.. each is really only good for 5A ideal...

    Pics always useful..

      ..Just looked on Perkins site.. Under regulators they have 3 .. the 4.8v one is only rated 3A .. they do have a 6A but it's a 6V one. I think I made an early point in this thread that not all regulators can be paired up..or I'd have gone for the simple hobbyKing 3A jobbies and chucked 4 or 5 in parallel...

      <it's never easy>

        cheers Euan.

          Why can some regulators not be run together / paired etc?

          Right now I have a few Arizonas, a few Duralites, a 'batshare' and one of those opto isolator modules (bought on a whim from a forum member).

          The Arizonas have adjustable voltage and two separate outputs so that, for example, you can run your tail servo at 4.8 but everything else at 6 or they can both be at whatever voltage you want. The Duralites have a preset voltage, I think I have two 5 volt and one 6 volt version.

          My goal is to lash together one power module composed of one or more regs, with some form of redundancy or backup. The whole thing to be mounted onto a flat piece of CF or plastic or in a Maplins plastic project box.
          The idea being to share this power module between the Predator and the Robbe (and maybe another big heli if it has the space to fit).

          Both those helis have lots of space under the bonnet for something to just sit in there and be strapped down. Connection to the RX would probably be via two Deans connected to two channels in the rx's.

          I know I cannot run the Predator on 6 volts due to some of the Futaba servos so prob the best bet is 4.8 all round.

          Now that's bound to be a doable practical thing. I can't fly more than one heli at a time so there's no need for each one to have an elaborate and expensive power unit permanently attached.

            I dunno.. but it was a point made by some of the regulator manufacturers when i was punting around reading about them a few months ago. I assumed that one could just get around any back emf effects with a simple diode..but electronics guru says no..and reasons I didn't understand..

            Since the align regs didn't say ya couldn't ~I tried them and they seem to work (so far)..

            Makes ya wonder how noisy some of these regs really are and how accurate their output..
