  • What servo's & gyro for a Predator?

I'm contemplating getting a Century Predator could someone please advise me as to which servo's & gyro would work best with this heli, if not specific makes then torque/speed for the servo's.
    Thanks.

What style of flying do you intend to use this heli for?

    Cheers,

Gyro 601 and 9251 servo suited me for sports flying loops rolls stall turns etc...

401 and 9254 will also hold the tail

on the CCPM put 3050's they are okay for aerobatics nice and solid

If my present level is anything to go by your better off asking what style of crashing I intend to do! In all seriousness I'm fairly new to this heli lark so it will not initially be for any stick banging. I would however rather buy better and buy once than get make do's and have to upgrade later if that makes snese?

I'll take it from that your shootings better than your flying, and your typing zoze?

I'm trying to, it's just that everyone say's it's easier to learn on a larger scale heli than a little one so logically a gasser would be easier than the 600, won't it?

I was flying a Predator 60 - unfortunately it is in bits awaiting parts at the moment. Nice heli but the main reason it's sat awaiting parts is because they are quite expensive in comparison to say Align/Thunder Tiger. I'm now flying a Raptor, I can crash it for only half the price!

That's a worry as I went for the T Rex 600 as the spares are generally cheaper than TT, i.e. you get two Align parts for the price of one TT, tail booms and such like.
I looked at an X Cell air frame in my LHS today but quickly went off that when they told me a new tail boom was £80.00!

Predator Gasser is way more stable that a 600n...

I had one the predator is heavy but so much more stable than a 600n BUT the size of it sat there throttling up is way more scary if you have never flown one before and if you bend it you will know about it....

I'm guessing along the lines of "the bigger they come the harder they fall", had similar issues with 1/5th scale rc cars, when they hit something they hit hard as they're so heavy.

if your only learning you could buy whatever your pocket can stretch to. as it's a gasser i would get something a bit meaty myself so i'd be looking at a 401 absolute minimum. people are also having luck with the align gyros. if you want the best then the usual ones apply, SG, 611, Spartan, 720.

as for the century i had a pair of pmax 90's a long time ago when they first came out. was a not bad machine but spares for it was an absolute beyatch. one time i had to goto 8 different shops (2 in uk and 6 in usa) to repair after a normal crash. i'm not trying to put you off but if you find spares then buy them and keep a stash.

                            cheers
