upgrading zyx-s

i have the Flybarless Gyro Programming Software installed version 1.16. i have downloaded the zyx-s 3.5 firmware upgrade. when unzipped creates bin file. the gyro programming software opens ini files. please help

Get john's latest version of the software (though you should be OK with 1.16) connect it all up, select upgrade firmware and when it asks for the file point it at the .bin file and you should be good to go (this is all from memory)

As above... download John's software from here... Flybarless Gyro Programming Software
In the bottom right of the window, where you see 'Firmware Upgrade', select 'Open', browse to the .bin file and select it, then click 'Upgrade'. Power off your ZYX, hold in the 'set' button whilst powering it up again and you should get a flashing red LED, release the 'set' button and the firmware will start updating.

ok thanks, I had the wrong software, used the one for zyx-s and can now connect. however connecting to software seems a bit hit and miss. when i first switch on gyro the reciever binds as usual and all lights on gyro are on solid. I then connect the gyro with the usb after running software. but it wont connect. the only way i can get it to connect is by pressing the set button, then it flashes blue, and then hold set again and it connects. I tried following the proper procedure but nothing happens. like i said bit hit and miss so bit annoying. please advise

Connect everything first, then start the software, then turn on the ZYX, then press connect. If it doesn't connect, select a different port.
