What does the firmware update bring compared to the shipped firmware?

Just in the process of setting my ZYX up on my Gaui X2

I read somewhere,(on HF me thinks) that it stops the heli tipping over on spool up, due to random unit/servo movements or something to that effect.
Amongst other things.

Ive had the same issues and if the blue light flashes on the usb dongle the port is lined up correctly....BUT! it never connected because i didnt connect the RX correctly to the FBL unit...if it doest initialise and go to either a red or a blue light ..you havent got the right wires plugged into the FBL unit corectly..simple as that!

OH and where do I get the firmware update please?

Thanx went to the other site and was enlightened...

just a couple of questions please....whats the better system to have fir flying and setups sake....mine are all the copterx unit with the copterx field box and usb (blutooth on the way)...so once i flash to the other systems i need the other field box...any advantages in this? please

Well the saga of the ZYX firmware update has been ended by the Tarot whisperer aka MikeJ.
Spoke to Mike, who took me through a few things, when I discovered that I had the plug into the USB dongle upside down . It was only yesterday that it was upside down, as I had connected to the non updateable software the previous night.
Anyway, MJ advised me to uninstall the USB drivers that were installed, and try the one he used. Unfortunately, that would not load at all, as it was renamed (to fool virgin email thingy) into thinking it wasn't an exe file.

I then found another driver from a site I had not used, although identical to previous driver and mike's, installed it, but wouldn't fully load. Got the PC to search for a solution, which it did, and hey presto, the Tarot lives on another day.
I maidened it last night, very scatty to start with, but put d/r's and expo in and it was solid as a rock, even in my clumsy hands.

Just to dispel a few myths that I fell for, to save anyone else the grief.
The com port, if using john_nz software, doesn't need to be 1-4, I connected on com 8.( I kinda got hung up on this one) Thanks Mike
The Tx, in my case had to be turned on ( futaba Tx and Rx).
Dongle must be plugged in to usb port before starting software program.
Software doesn't always connect first attempt (tried it a few times now).
Check that only one of the drivers is installed if using vista, I had 2, so apparently vista can get confused as to which one to use. Thanks Mike.

I hope this helps at least one person to have less hassle than I did. Remember to check that the silver pins can be seen on the same side as the red and blue light on dongle.

A huge thanks to all that sent suggestions, especially MikeJ, who was very kind to give me some his time. He didn't even get the kettle on before returning my call, strange behaviour??.

The firmware update is for the Tarot unit not the Copterx. Some people have managed to cross-flash the Tarot firmware into the Copterx, but when I tried I "bricked" the Copterx unit - fortunately Copterx released the firmware about a month later so I was able to re-flash it with the original firmware.

The Copterx and the Tarot unit are as near as damn it exactly the same - with some of the early units people managed to cross-flash the Copterx to Tarot firmware, but others of us failed. But there really isn't any advantage in doing so - the hardware is the same, the settings are the same, they work the same.

The only advantage of cross-flashing (if it were successful) would be if Tarot continue to release firmware upgrades, but now that Tarot have released an "S" version that seems unlikely.

Hi Mike,

Not yet, ha ha. I was very pleasantly surprised at how stable and different it was compared to my Gaui 550 FB. I need to learn which setting affects what and how much, but I will get there. I got an occasional tail shift of about 10 degrees and just before 2nd pack were due to be charged, it seemed to get a pitch "glitch" and rose by about 18" really quick, but not due to RPM increase. Overall though, it flew perfectly after d/r and expo added( none to start with) straight out of the box as it were!!
To say I'm chuffed to bits with the tarot would be a bit of an understatement. For that sort of money,I wasn't expecting that sort of result. I've even got someone else interested in getting a 425FBL after they saw it fly last night.

I just uploaded John,s software and did a setup now I have a tail drift
before it was rock steady ..so will reload the file and see if its ok..then look for the difference in numbers!

Hi Haydn, best I can suggest, is have a look at Raptor Technique, he gives you the better alternatives to the software/ programmer settings for things like gain etc.
I set my 425 up using his instructions and it flew pretty faultlessly. I had to change the tail deadband from 40 to 20 to get rid of an occasional tail "shift", he recommends 10 ( I should have listened huh??). May be worth comparing his numbers against yours.

well manged to stuff the tail servo experimenting seems the igain adjustment I made to see what happens with the drift well and truly cooked thes ervo..magic smoke and every thing..well actually bricked a unit first..lucky ive got another 6 to go....so will just load what i had as it worked great ...

Oh jeeeeezzz man, that's not good. Did you brick the FBL unit? or just servo unit?
I guess that's why they call them trials and tribulations?? Hope you get it sorted soon anyway.
