  • 450 pro jumps into the air?

    Hi guys,
just getting back into helis and bought myself a tarot zyx s2 system set everything up as per the software and everything mechanically on the heli.
when going to take off i reach full throttle but the heli does not lift...i have positive 12 degrees pitch on the bench, upon lowering the collective the heli all of a sudden jumps into the air before obviously coming back down.
im lost...i have never setup a fbl heli before so any help is much appreciated.

450 pro jumps into the air?

Maybe no I once thought that with the mini Titan the swash goes up is -pitch and the raptor is up is +pitch first time I tried it wouldn't lift off i took. down the stick and up it went and I had been flying helis for years so now i always check that the blades have +pitch when stick goes up

One way to tell the correct direction of pitch is to look at the leading edge of the blade. Whichever way it points is the way that it will travel. Leading edge pointing towards the sky then it will be positive pitch and vice versa.

              Cheers,
              Grant.

Well that's something i didn't expect! my appoligise glen you was 100% correct! grant cheers for clearing that up!
is this something different on fbl helis then ? i have always knows the swash of a 450 to rise for positive pitch rather than fall?

It's not a case of flybarless or not, it's whether or not you've got leading edge or trailing edge pitch links. For example, the 450x has trailing edge pitch links so a swash down gives positive pitch. A Trex 450 in contrast is leading edge so swash up is positive pitch.

Pic of a 450x head. You can see the pitch links from the swash connect to the blade grips on the back of the blades. So a swash down pulls the trailing edge down, ie pitch up!

Agree with Tom - it sounds as if you have your Main grips set wrong

                      Cheers :-)
Abit puzzled now though as my pitch links are on the leading edge but swash down gives positive pitch.

                        Liam,
The photo that you sent me, the pitch links aren't on the leading edge! They are on the trailing edge of the blade grip! Meaning that when your swash moves down it pulls the linkage arms on the blade grips down thus making the leading edge of the blades point skywards and giving positive pitch! Just like what happens with the 450x that Tom posted a picture of above.
With my 450 the pitch links connect to the leading edge of the blade and the swash moves up to give posture pitch. This is because the links for pitch are on the opposite of the grips to yours meaning that I have also got an opposite moving swash for pitch. Mine is swash up for positive and vice versa.
I hope you don't mind but I've attached your picture so it's easier for people to see and to clarify on whether I'm correct in what I'm saying here mate. I'm pretty sure that I am correct like

                        Cheers,
                        Grant.

Liam, Grant is correct. You've got your blade grips on upside down. Take the blades off, unpop the swash links and turn each grip around 180 degrees and reconnect everything. You will then have leading edge links and swash up will result in positive pitch.

                            cheers for your advice guys.
abit puzzled that the grips are upside down as they are clearly marked with the tarot logo and well it would seem abit daft to have the pointing down
