Wow ! Skookum GPS just paid for itself ! Was out minding my own business this morning at the field, with Skookum 720 and SK GPS equiped Trex 600 elf pro. Normal sport flying, nothing too demanding, and ended up staring at the sun as the hell turned from a figure of 8 circuit. Completely lost the plot, disorientated and retinal after image blinding me. Had the vague impression of a very fast and out of control hell diving straight at me and behind me, the chaps at the club running for cover. It hit the 8m floor, went into rescue mode, turned itself around and hovered in front of me, tail in, waiting for me to get my act together. Made a safe landing, but act not fully together for 2 or 3 hours after !

Hmmm - not cheap !
Skookum GPS Module for Sk-720 SK-GPS is around £380, and about £350 for the Skookum 720 (new Black edition coming out soon). Put that against the cost of a replacement Heli and electronics and Lipos and it makes sense. I have it set to self level, and a floor at 8m (the minimum). So I can fly around normally until I get to 8M, then it goes into rescue mode, and hovers the hell tail in at about 10m. You can set it to "come home", so if you find it is running away from you, then hit the switch, it will fly to your predefined spot, then turn and hover tail in, waiting .....

It will only get cheaper. The basic electronics is nothing special. All development cost. Some cars have automatic braking already, not to mention ABS and stability control. I expect the club members thought it was worth while.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.
