  • sk540 governor help again please

thought id sorted the governor on the sk540 but must of spoke to soon, changed the sensor last night as found the last one had been touching the magnet and damaged it so I fitted a brand new revlock sensor, went out this morning governor came in on spool up (1800rpm ) took her into a hover every thing seemed fine, flicked into id1 (1950rpm) revs picked up as should but now it keeps hunting (revs up&down) badly ,so I adjusted the gov gain from 50% to 55% made no difference so tried 45% still no difference and it still wanted to cut back to idle when you give it full climb out. all the settings are at default manage collective box ticked, gear ratio is 8.50 as its a trex 600n rpm1-1800 rpm2&3 1950rpm I was using the sensor of the cgy750 when I first flew it last week with default gov settings and it performed great in the air then after a few test flights it started cutting back to idle at full collective for a couple of seconds before kicking back in then yesterday didn't work at all any help here would be grateful as im stuck on were to go with it now I have got a revlock 10 I could fit but I really wanted to keep with the sk gov regards loopking

Have you confirmed the sensor is working in utility menu, rpm/voltage? Not sire about the csm sensor as its analog!
If it's hunting its a gain issue.

Re: sk540 governor help again please

Ive found the gov gain is very senstive and 1 or 2 % makes a big change as to low and too high are very similar one hunts for the correct rpm and the other will be to quick to respond. Very similar to the gain on a tail gyro
My gov gain is set to 52 %.
I dont use the manage collective but if i recall right the last ramp box figure is applied to the collective managment.
I not sure why your engine is going to idle on a full collective climb. Is your pich curves in idle 1/ 2 a straight line @ 60 % and idle 2 @100%.
Hope this info helps you and you get it sorted

my curves are straight 60 and 100 in id2 so would you say the hunting is caused by to high a gain and that moving up 5 like I did is to much

just went out to try it again played around with the gain going 1 at a time 51 52 53 so on then went the other way 49 48 47 so on still wouldn't hold head speed kept hunting up&down so then jumped to 60 and tried 40 and still done it bl^^^^dy thing

thanks for that vanman, I did email skookum today I told them I was using the revlock sensor and the problems I was having and they want me to send them a flightlog I was hoping they were going to come back and say the sensor I was using wasn't compatible unless they don't know
