Ive been flying skookum now since april ,I started with the 720 which was great it did everything i wanted and it was my 1st fbl unit,, it was easy to setup and worked out of the box , i changed to the 540 in aug and have a 150 flights on it now and it works a treat its hard mounted on my N2 and its as locked in as i want it the tail is perfect and the 540 like all the rest can be setup how ever you want
I have recently just got a SL V bar on my 600 to compare it and yes its as good as everyone says but i just have not got it totally dialed in yet so i still prefere the 540 but time will tell ,,
the gov on the v bar holds better IMO and you can bail out of a auto quicker with the VB but SK said they are working on a firmware update which will address this issue
but everyone will have their own preffernces when it come to fbl and im very happy with both brands and if you buy either you will not be dissipointed

Using a SK540, And found it a Joy to set up, Has a great feel, and Is mounted with one thin layer of tape on 600 n.

Not sure why vanman says it dosnt bail out of an auto as quick, It ramps the speed up nicely on mine, even when the blades have slowed right up.

Like the that it has 2 banks each for tail and cyclic, Makes it quick to dial a setup in.

If you want to have a look at the software, you can download it from the Skookum website and play about with it even if you dont have a unit, and the Skookum website (and wiki) is full of useful, but plain english tips.

and Its all out of the box, Nothing else to get

Have heard good things about the SK540, Should be getting one to go on an x50e build soon. Governor is supposed to be one of the best available.

Using 1 on one of my 7hv's, its been flawless from day 1, looking at around 180 flights on it now.

I think im more tempted towards the SK540 than vbar not for cost but for the reviews ive been reading

as I said in another thread yesterday, I got to fly one saturday and I have to say it was Excellent, and that was just on basic setup, so with tweaking I should imagine it will be phenomenal.

Another interesting thing of note, As a byproduct of using different sensors to handle vibrations better, There are actually 6 sensors in the SK540, 2 for each axis.

According to Art vanden berg the designer, only one sensor is used, but if one should fail, the other "spare" on that axis will continue to function fine and you wouldn't notice !
