Is anyone running an external BEC and NO powerbus with a Skookum - if so what bec are you using and how did you find the wiring.
Regards as always
Paul
HV..BL9080 AND 9088 ... 2s straight into power bus and a link between both sides... one on a 720 one on a 540... just the sbus is in a strange place on a 540 (portb)...
No regs... i fit a standard futaba HD switch between the fright pack and the power bus... first pack went dead flat because it wasn't unplugged for a week... now we use a switch...

The answer to your question is very much dependant upon the size of the heli.
What heli are you going to run this Skookum on?
Due to the amps that full size servos will pull, Skookum recommend the external bus on 550+
Gryphon quaser here on 2 helis. 1 720 with power bus and 1 540 without.
Just setting another heli up with western robotics super BEC on 720.
Never had a problem.
weston Robotics Hercules super bec with no bus and a sk540 on my goblin 630.
Bullet proof bec would highly recommend it.
not cheap but ive Never been one for scimping on components
