An HC3SX is about the same price as the skookum, and the rescue/horizontal mode works very well. I've heard that the skookum is not very accurate with the levelling (it over or under corrects) yet it is also over sensitive.
Once you get past the pain of setting the helicommand up, it's great (for me at least).Last edited by Stanley Speel; 27-12-2011, 07:24 PM.Trex 700n DFC - YS120, Spartan Vortex

I can't help that much since I haven't flown vbar... My only FBL experience is the Beast X and the SK720
I have to say the SK is very good, it flies great and is infinitely tweakable... Matches pretty much every feature on the vbar and adds a few more. The logging ability is very cool too... Free firmware updates are another plus.
It is also just about to receive a firmware update that will enable multicopter support, which makes it flexible for other setups down the road if you ever want to move it to another bird, and the GPS add on is imminent (so they say)... That could open the door for some pretty insanely good bailout options like return to home.
The only downside in my opinion is that the accelerometer side of things is sensitive to vibration. The gyros that control the actual flight don't appear to be sensitive though, so it's only an issue that affects accelerometer based functions such as self-levelling. It is however very useful for tracking down failing bearings, out of balance items etc - each has it's own vibration signature and using the pro viewer you can track them down quite accurately. If your heli has its vibes under control, bailout works great.
Basically, I'm happy with it. When it was on my protos it did even save the heli once when I lost orientation high and far, and used the bailout feature... The only time I've used it though!
I will however almost certainly be replacing it with a Spartan vortex on my 600 next year and move the sk720 into a scale ship, or possibly a quad. That's not the skookum's fault, it's just that I have a massive thing for spartan's kit.Ridding the world of Helis, one crash at a time....

No reason why not... You just need a way of supplying rpm info to the skookum.
I have no experience with nitro, but apparently the gov isn't perfect on the nitro side, think some people were asking for a few improvements in the next firmware release.Ridding the world of Helis, one crash at a time....

I have my V50 ona skook with an R6203 and 12FG and gov you just plug in a sensor...... It will show you vibrations and they have all got to be cured for it to work at its best... That can be a challenge...

My problem is i have ordered one from Skookum, they shipped the same day and now it is lost in the postal system!(possibly in Coventry airport) The tracking says it has left Canada and then nothing since the 16th of December, i have had an emails from them saying this does not normally happen!. They are a bit slack on getting back to you. The sales enquiry took over two days to be responded to. Canada Post have said it should be investigated sooner rather than later, Skookum want to wait until Jan! My concern is if i had to get any warranty work done would i get the same service?
I was hoping to set it up over Christmas for something i want to do in Jan! I am not sure how big the company is, i am getting the impression they are a bit Fred in the shed. If I am wrong please let me know. At the moment i am just a little P$$ed off with the whole thing. Sorry if this is a bit off topic, I am seeking solace in venting my frustration!

Postage from Canada would likely take up to 2 weeks normally. christmas and the new year will probably add a week to that, so I wouldnt get concerned yet. Skookum is a small business and whilst they may not respond quickly, they have always come good for me over the last 2-3 years of using them.Goblin T600E pro T550 T500 T450 Pro
