  • skookum 720 pitch settings

    Hi all
I Am having trouble setting up my sk720be are all pitch guage settings ie 0,10,12 done with blades level with boom, as on the spartan some are done 90 deg to boom. I Have tried to setup quite a few times and always seem to end up with -4.5 at 0, +9.5 full, -15 neg. Swash is level and 0 deg pitch to start with. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    No.

For collective, and servo travel; I do each servo in turn.

For Ails & Elegy; I do at the appropriate positions.

The Soko Heli Tool manual covers this.

Sounds lime you need to raise the servo links as the top and bottom pitch is way off.

Yup, have a look at what you're getting for full positive and full negative, and adjust the servo link lengths so you get roughly equal travel top and bottom.

Once you have that you can set zero pitch again and the swash should be around the centre of travel with the arms on the servos horizontal. And with that set you can set your travel limits to give you the range you want for maximum positive and negative pitch.

His tools are great (he's also a Skookum user); but the principle works anyway.

              Hi Scallybert
I have Soko Kit but as ar7200 was taken off with no changes thought it would be ok. Anyway adjusted links started setup again half way through DX9 Trani packed up so sent to Horizon Hobby for checking so no flying for me and looks like a good week for weather.

Bummer about the Tx - but at least it wasn't in flight...

If you use the Soko, and are reasonably careful, it should 'just work'; and it doesn't take as long as you might think.

I maidened a Goblin 500 with an SK720BE a couple of weeks back. All I had to do at the field was to wind the cyclic and tail gains (on the Tx) up from the really conservative first flight settings. It was basically perfect straight off the bench.

With the SK & Soko, it can be like that every time.
