  • tail servo center?

Afternoon I have a couple of questions regarding my sk540 setup, firstly I have no trim in my tx but when I flick the tail gain switch from HH to rate mode the servo center moves maybe 3mm whilst at center.... any ideas why.. is that normal?
I also have the tail precomp... at 0(not sure what skookum call it?) what is a good amount to start at? and is it worth using, along with any other built in mixes?
Finally tail servo endpoints in the unit, what's a good percentage to start at and how close do they need to be to each other, what affect does that have on stops?
I think that's it I'll get to the cyclics later ha ha
    cheers Lee

If it ain't broke fix it until it is
yes i'm an idiot and no i couldn't care any less

If you are meaning whilst bench testing, I have found the best thing is to ignore any strange behaviour unless it shows up in flight.

'Tail drag compensation' is generally set at -6 for elevator and 0 for aileron, never heard of people changing this figure. Probably just works.

Best thing is to start the tail wizard and stick to what it says to the letter. Dont worry about uneven numbers, mine usually end up at 80/120

In fact the wizards are so good and virtually fool proof (look on HF Skookum forum for the fools). Best thing is to start a new model set the software to 'basic 3d' then run the wizards one by one.

thanks its flying ok just got a soft right stop and bounce's back if you increase the stop... but I think I need to address the mechanical setup of the tail then go through the wizard again, ill look at the Tail drag compensation too as I think that's at 0 and put it -6 on elevator, I actually meant collective mix though like revo mix so it pre empts the torque.
also how to I revert my firmware back to 3.31? i'm on 3.40 at the mo and much preferred the overall feel of the previous version even on a basic 3D setup

        tail servo center?

To go back FW you will need to email art at Skookum robotics and request it. What is it specifically that you don't like? I've found it much better than ever before.

Everything about the precision and feel since I changed to 3.40, Basically nothing is crisp on cyclic or tail/feels numb to start on imput... e.g disconnected but overall speed is fine but doesn't stop precisely in hesitation moves either Also have a slow rearward elevator drift and get gain shimmy's on aileron which altering gain doesn't affect.
I've changed nothing on the model since 3.31 only the software to 3.40 now have all these issues so unless its developed vibes and is coincidence its got to be the software.
when using 3.31 all I did was use the basic 3d settings and upped the gain on cyclic and tail and loved it....not so much anymore though on 3.40

            tail servo center?

I see. A fair few people reported that the could up their gains on both cyclic and tail after the revision, maybe try going up more. Worth a try.
