If you mean rate mode then there is no rate mode, set up as instructed in the vbar software
    T- rex 600n V-bar
    Logo 550sx V-bar
    Logo 600sx V-bar
    Logo 600sx V-bar night flyer

VBControl, but not the gay white version as i'm simply not gay enough to pull it off!

          Ok
          On tail rotor
Hit the expert parameters blue icon
Then you have lock mode(heading hold)
          Rate mode

You need to be using bank switching
          Cheers Paul

thanks geek, any reason to be using bank switching ? i would like to get a flying model before enabling bank switching to copy to all banks before altering things

Think geeks saying about bank switching so you can switch between HH and rate mode. Don't see why you need to do this at all (set to rate mode). In the vbar setup with the rudder centred (it does this automatically) just set a couple of degrees to counter torque. Then set the endpoints, if they are vastly different you may need to tweak the centre position. You will need to make sure you have the servo arm as close to 90 as you can get, there is no way to subtrim it to 90.

ahh thanks swashb, so while in the setup procedure it centers the servo so even if i move the heli while doing linkages and fitting the horn on the spline it stays centered

                    Yes
I use it for walking to the flight line.
Then as I spool up I switch to HH using bank switching
