  • CSM Flybarless project?

I'm thinking about trying to set up a flybarless arrangement with 2 x SL720's and a CSM 1 Cyclock to possibly replace the 3G on my 550e (I've already got an SL720 on it to replace the 3G tail gyro).

I've have all the bits, and I've looked at the wiring diagram. The CSM stuff is a bit clunky but works beautifully so I see no reason to doubt its capability.

So before I really take this on (or not), has anyone done it before - any tips - comments?

I could just sell the 3G, and the 720 and buy a Beast X - but I fancy a winter project that is a bit more of a challenge, and to be honest, if the CSM FBL set up acts anywhere near as well as the stand alone units - it should be awesome! Worth a bash I think?

    Cheers,
    Simon

the trouble with the csm system is that it is seperate components with separate bits of software, none of which cross talks. It does the basics pretty well but suffers when you start pushing the envelope even a simple pirouette will cause a slight wander on the cyclics.

but as you have the bits and as long as your willing to play with it i see no reason why it would work any different to what you have fitted. However if your looking to upgrade without spending any money then flog all 3csms and stick a beastx on it.

I wonder when CSM will step out of the dark ages and bring out their own flybarless all in one unit?

That was my first flybarless system and it was "ok", I got some settings from Andy at Real Raptors which were worked out by Russ Deakin and I think they were the settings that Duncan used when he ran the system at 3DM 2007 (think it was that year). It's ok and a good first venture, Everything else will seem like childs play after. As has been said you could sell the gyros after and get an all in one Beast or Vbar. I went from that to Skookum and then Skookum to Vbar.

The whisper is it's already being worked on, an all in one I think. Psst! Don't tell anyone!
