  • Drifting BD3x

    I have installed a Bavarian Demon 3X on a 700 size heli.

Generally it flies very well but the swash appears to be drifting in relation to the wind.
The heli centre of gravity is spot on and the drift is always in the direction of the wind no matter which way the heli is pointing upright or inverted.

Any clever people for some tuning tips or help ?

It won't counter act the wind. It will drift if there is wind as the wind is blowing it. The BD3SX doesnt know it's windy or have GPS to hold a position.

As above the BD does not hold in one spot with wind. If it did drift when there is no wind or not with the wind direction then check the tx settings page where you set your +- 100 and your 0's. If they are not at zero at centre stick it will drift. But that does not sound like your issue.

      Cheers,
      Alastair.

I'm not talking a little drift here...its a big one...the wind wasn't that strong just a gentle breeze.
At first I thought it might be the setup with the swash not being level.
So i checked and flew again. Swash is perfectly level in the setup.
From tail in the heli drifted forwards (forward elevator drift)..nose in the heli drifts backwards (back elevator drift) the same for the side ons.
The drift is always in the same direction no matter which way the heli is pointing. I wondered if the head gain is too low ?

Check the tx is showing 0 in centres as above. Gain depends on heli. But both my trex's are 54-56 and my R5 for speed is about 42

I had a similar problem on my X50. On page 1, I set Deadband to 2 and it seemed to have resolved it. I have Rigid Head Gain at 60.
