  • Align Gpro + Graupner = No no

Recently I've switched from Futaba to Graupner. I was attracted by fancy features, such as touch screen, telemetry, etc. I connected the newest Align's fbl unit, set up my heli, everything was fine until the swash plate started to behave weird. I restarted the unit ( switch on and off) and after restarting, I was not able to see that the led on gpro is on. I've tried several times to turn it on, but I only see green light on the receiver, but not from the gpro. Luckily, I live near Align's company in Taiwan, I went there to report the problem. After 30 minutes of their testing, they've replaced my gpro, but mentioned that they don't usually do that, because there's no warranty. I went back home happily, could not wait to set up everything again and go to fly. Unfortunately, after setting up the pitch curve, travel limits... again the gpro stopped responding. I think I won't be able to replace my fbl unit again. So try this combination on your own risk .

      I completely agree
I've moved to Taiwan from Europe, fortunately near Align that just sounds good, there aren't any advantages. (except I got the new dominator 700L in july), not a biggie at all, because you can get i now in the UK, too. Thanks for your reply!

          Morning Emil.

Could you tell us a little more about your setup, specifically the wiring of the Gpro to I'm assuming an external Graupner receiver via the patch leads?
It seems strange how everything is working ok and then not, what BEC/power supply do you have powering the servos?

Hi Mr. Magoo, I bought it from Align, I went to the company, have a nice conversation with a salesperson, after a few min I got 700L Dominator, super combo When Gpro stopped responding in order to replace the gpro unit, I went back there ~ Align company, and the employees told me that there is no warranty on/for (don't know which one is correct) their products (probably not in Taiwan), but because I went all the way to the company they agreed to replace my fbl unit.

Thank you for helping me, my set up: ESC - Castle HV120, motor - MX800 520 kv, 3x servo - Align Bl815 and 1x Bl855, now about the wiring I've tried SUMD on channel 8, with SUMD I had no success, later on I've tried SUMO, but again nothing. In the end I realized that the best solution is to set up the wiring for conventional receiver, that wiring was ok. Everything behaved normally, I set up the end points, the pitch curve, throttle curve, I struggled a bit with end points for esc, but figure it out. I want to mention that my Dominator flies well with futaba s-bus receiver and futaba radio. Why I wanted to switch to Graupner, hmm, good question, because it looks fancy , telemetry? Not quite sure, I am not a collector but I've got one JR radio, one Spektrum, 2 Futaba, 2 Walkera, 1 Hubsan (it looks like a toy and it is), so I wanted to try and check Graupner's technology. Yes, it seems strange, I agree, and there was no smoke neither weird smell. I am 100% sure it was working ok, and after the weird behavior of swash plate I restarted everything but the gpro was not responding. What happened, while bench testing it, after a few min, I'm not sure how long it was the period, but with my input for pitch up, the swashplate moved like a drunk, the 3 servos didn't go up, but one went up, the other moved up and down, and the elevator one went all the way down. I'm using Tank Power 2200mAh 30c/5c, 2s, 7.4 v to power the servos. Thanks a lot!

Update: I went to Align, they were very friendly, they are going to replace my gpro unit, but this time they are going to add some " protection", sorry, my Chinese is bad, so as far as I understand it's protection. I'll get my unit soon. I'll let you know about their conclusion. Cheers!!!
