  • Is there any life in the 3G in 2013?

For no particular reason I'm just curious if everyone has moved on from the 3G in favour of something else or the 3GX or if the 3G had been tweaked to the point of it being a viable FBL unit even today.

I remember when the 3G came out and previously the FBL systems being flown were the VBar and Skookums etc. so there was a lot of buzz about the 3G. Then of course the BeastX came along and it got all the buzz and then pretty soon there were FBL units everywhere.

Sooooo, if you had a 3G lying around now is it just an awkward paperweight or with the right settings is it OK?

I've got one on a 450 Pro (thanks Brian) and it's steady as a rock compared to FB, for my flips and loops and wobbly tic-tocs.
Can't say how it compares with VBaars and Beastys , but I paid 20 quid for one S/H a while ago and a mate is flying a 600N with it and it works very well his intermediate 3D stuff.

Sold it and bought a beastx and never looked back

if you've got one and like it why not use it
most of the problems are down to set up issues
my one tried to kill me so i took it off the shuttle
but i may try it again with the latest firmware in my 450 if i ever go fbl with it

20 quid, that's silly cheap! You can't even get a decent gyro for that (not yet anyway).

To be fair Brian, Duncan did have a CSM 720 gyro mounted next to his.

Cyclics did work pretty good but the tail was its weak point back when I had them.
