Is anyone still tweaking the 3G? Coolice I'm looking in your general direction ;)

As above is anyone still fine tuning their 3G system? I've just bought one with plans of fitting it to my Gootch 450 SE V2 when I find a suitable fbl head

I've got the USB dongle too and thought I'd start hunting for setup help now

Hey buddy.

Not really tweeking anymore no I'm afraid, as there are already some great settings files out for the 3G. My own ones are floating around the forums and are on this one to I think. Actually thinking about it I don't think I have posted 3G ones, but will do when I am on my pc for you.

V2.1 firmware is definetly the best one for the 3G, V3 made improvements to the tail gyro but at the expense of cyclic performance. I tried very hard to get it flying as good as V2.1 but couldn't so went back to V2.1. Many others have now found the same and stuck with the older firmware.

The 3G is still a great performer, it just works, so you will like it I think.

Is the cyclic difference going to affect a total newb?

Hey.

It's hard to say really, probably not if you've not flown V2.1 previously. I found that in hard manouvers the elevator seemed very snappy and the cyclics just didn't feel so locked in.
Having said this I have a friend who's moved onto circuits and even at the level he is, he felt the difference when we popped V3 on his model, so much so he didn't like the feel so we reverted it back to V2.1.

It's quite simple to downgrade the unit, you just have to download V2.1 from Aligns web site and install it to your pc, then follow through the V2.1 upgrade instructions. It walks you through it, updating the main unit and sensor seperately.

Had mine on 600n since 3G first come out & apart from updating to latest version I've done nothing more.

Good to see someone still uses it,
A quick search "after" I'd bought it reveals loads of trash talk about this system, I'm in no hurry to get it set up and I'm sure I would have paid plenty more for a brand new plug and play system, I'm thinking about one of these dfc heads when they land

i put an g3 unit on my r22 scale only ever done a basic hover test but as said not changed any settings just done basic setup settings and for £50 new from shop its a no brainer for me
