  • 3G in raptor 30

    Hi
    I have setup my Raptor 30 with a 3g system V2.1.
It has been test flown by a more experienced pilot and it flew well
but he said it was quite sensitive.
How do i make it less sensitive to fly
Do i use DR or servo travel, Also can i use trim on the system
    I am using a DSX9
I have adjusted the bell and hiller in the program to make it less responsive
this was before it was flown.
The trim pot is still at 12 'o' Clock.
I am hoping to put this in a Century 30 size Airwolf.

Best thing to try first is lower aile & elev in swash mix
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

I tend to use dual rates first when things are over sensitive. Try taking dual rates down to about 80% on airilon and elevators initially.

I don't usually use or need much expo after doing this but try playing with around 5-15% initially to soften things around centre sticks. Some like more expo but it's a personal thing.

Should make a far more confidence inspiring heli until you're ready for a little more action!

      Cheers
      Dom

And don't mess with servo travel either: it's probably been set for the 3gx.

Stick with Dual Rates and Expo.

        Cheers

          Hey.

Yes, you can use both dual rates and exponential in your transmitter to make the model feel as you like it arounf centre stick. Within the PC software there is the ability to add expo and also reduce the control rate, controlled by the 3G in degree's per second. The latter can also be changed out on the field, using your ATV values in the case of the Raptor which does not use eCCPM control, but mCCPM.

Normally you do not adjust your servo ATV values when the unit is fitted to say a Trex using electonic collective cyclic pitch mixing (eCCPM), but as this mix is mechanical on the Raptor series (learnt by the 3G during DIR mode setup) you set your pitch and cyclic limits while in DIR mode using your ATV values (Aileron, Elevator & Pitch channels) and then out at the field adjust these same ATV's (Aileron, Elevator) to change the models rate of flip & roll.
If you connect the 3G to your PC and go to the movement page, you can adjust your ATV's (or control rate sliders) and while holding full aileron for example see the degree's per second value change accordingly.

You can use your transmitter trims to make fine adjustments, however if you need to make large trim changes then this would indicate a not so good bench setup and I'd investigate further to reduce the amount of trim used.

Stick with V2.1 on the 3G, it's the better one. Also you could try my settings file I have posted, which will help tame the model and allow you to further detune the cyclics to make them more suitable for a scale application.

              Hey Paul.

              A quick search shows I've not posted my 3G specific settings on this forum yet, so for now you'll have to grab them from here;

Coolice's 3G Model Settings Files For Align PC Software - HeliFreak

Have a quick look through the topic to make sure you grab the latest ones, but I'd suggest you use the 550E settings, which work well on a variety of models.
