  • Align 3G On a 550E

I have the Align 3G on a FB Trex 550E. I set everything up as per Bert Kammerer and Ashley Davis. Went through the DIR etc, etc.
I am happy with everything EXCEPT when I operate positive Pitch, the Elevator servo goes slighty down before going up and visa versa on negative. Crustyspinkter suggests a reflash of the 2.1 software (not been updated to 3). Any other suggestions please?
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

Tried that several times after setting things up. Not flown it yet. NOT until I find out what the problem is.

        Hey.

I would reflash v2.1 and then go through DIR mode again, but making doubly sure there was none or as little subtrim as possible. I have had one time where the 3G seemed to move strange after a bench setup, buy after going through DIR mode again resetting things it was fine.

At my age it is called senile dementia. Slip of the brain to finger. FBL.

Your welcome buddy. They have had the odd quirk after going through the bench setu phase, I think the main problems have arisen when subtrims used and so I always advise to stay away from it. It means a lot more fiddling trying all the servos arms on each servo until you find the right group with minimal sub trim, but it's worthwhile at the end of it.

Shame you're too far away or you could borrow mine.

Take great care with the connectors on your 3G units. Plugs are tight fit and easy to cause damage removing them. Socket can pull out, pins can bend. There is a knack in getting them out. If you have a look at the connector when you get USB you will see 2 small pips on the cable plug, damage those or the holes in the socket and you will have a poor contact afterwards.
Cost me a crash with my 500 and then my 450Pro, when I transfered it to that, before I found the problem. Cost my mate 2 TRex 700's.
Coolice has some good instructions for handling the connectors and securing them.
                    Look through his posts.

Got the USB from Fastlads today and reflashed the 3G. No more up and down before down and up on the Elevator. However. I tested it out on the drive and it is going forwards and hanging right. I reseated the servo arms to get them level, but the swashplate does not look level. Going to go through it like a dose of salts this afternoon. It is definitely more lively than my 550E FB and much more the 600E. Can't wait to get it sorted. Thanks again coolice.

You are definitely right about the connectors. A real pain for my OLD fingers.

hi john if you need help just give me a shout mate. as said before, check trims sub trims and dual rates when goin through the dir. putting trim in to get a level hover is not a problem (not too much obviously)

Hi Rick. After I had reflashed and test flew in the garden. I went back and put it into DIR and leveled everything again. Did a bind and test flew again. Now just hoverimg back slightly. But I flew it with a 5s and no canopy. So that might make a difference? Proper maiden tomorrow. If it DON'T flippin rain?
