Wowww!!! 3G v3

Uploaded the v3 firmware on my 3G 600 & 700 what a difference", the tail on both heli's are rock solid, cyclic control is unbelievably locked-in no matter how much punch you give it" & not the slightest cyclic wobble, have to hand it to Align they've finally got it bang on.

That's interesting, updated both my 600's this weekend, both have a slight, but noticeable, porpoise effect on elevator during fast forward flight onto wind.

I was in the middle of trying to tweek the gain, when I dumb thumbed one of them into the ground while aborting an auto, so gave up in disgust at myself !

Still early days for me. Updated mine on both my 450 sports. I reset everything back to default, and adjusted the software to suit me. Definately more stable in the hover, with on the spot piros quite an improvement as with piro consistancy. Ele/ail tic tocs also improved in that the tail doesn't bounce. Tail, I still have to get sorted, but overall pretty good.

I have updated the software on my 450 and 600...Stupid question by do I do the whole setup again before flying i.e Elevator and aileron limits, gyro limits etc? Also do I need to use my PC to tweek it? If so can someone advise on setting....
PS: I obviously don't fly 3D yet.....unless the sh*t really hits the fan and I loose orientation!

I did the whole setup again, as for some strange reason, when I left my old settings on there it played up whilst taking off the first time.. new spindle and mainshaft

So loaded up the standard settings, and ran through the ele/ail limits, which tbh is a 1 minute job.

On the standard settings, I just found everything too docile, hence the reason why I started to adjust everything, but no doubt some ppl will be happy with these settings. You may need to increase the gain on the tail, and I was also able to also up it in the ele and ele, which I adjusted on laptop at the field... though twiddling the pots will have the same effect though you won't know how many points you have upped it by.. hence less accurate.

You sir get a Gold medal for sticking with the 3G unit all this time. Will be interesting to see what you think of the new firmware as I have a 3G unit in my scopes dirt cheap. Could be a good way for people to save a bundle on getting into FBL if it is finally good.

I'd be interested to know what servos and FBL head you'e using. I just got a Sport with DS410s and an RJX head and intend to install
a 3G which currently has version 2 firmware and see about changing it to the V3 firmware first.

LOL..haha.. purely out of financial reasons! Though I think v3 was quite a welcome surprise.

There were some cheap 3g units flying around prior to v3.. though wonder if their s/h price will now stabilize a little now that v3 is out.

I'm using the 5065 servos on both my 450 sports.

Be quick I think v3 could be pushing the price back up on the 2nd 3G's.

well, just before the v3 release, i think there was one on here for £50. Was going to buy it just as a spare but it sold a bargain for the person who got it!

Don't think it will be a while before i see another one at that price.

Upgraded my T Rex700e end of last week.

Absolutely hopeless on first hover with porpoising and unstability.

All over the place when flying and with full power climb outs.

The gains are obviously too high on aileron and elevator for my heli so before the next test flights at the weekend I will have to get them dialed down quite a bit.
I had the main unit dials at 12 o'clock and default software settings

The tail just needed the gain upping by about 7-8 points.

I have to be honest, I was not to far away from advertising my 3G unit on here for £60, as I changed to a BeastX in my 550.

Now the V3 is here, I will put it in my 450pro and give it a try.

Well the upgrade cost me a crash today.
Upgraded, reset, checked all plugs and pins OK.
Hovered 10-20 seconds and WHAM, it put in full back elevator, no inputs from me, and went in tail first.
Boom, tail tube, tail shaft, tail blades, main blades, not checked main and feathering shafts, probably main and head bearings.
Leaving my 550 on v2.1
Had very carefully checked plugs and pins in sockets, plugs firmly in before and after crash.
Was going to glue plugs in after flying and PC restes finished.
Have been plagued with flybarless setups, both 3G and BeastX. Seriously thinking about going back to flybar for some peace in my life.
