  • Flying with Link Cable

    Howdie,

Finally managed to get a 3G update dongle. We all know its a pain in the butt to plug in etc, so i was wondering if anyone is actually flying using the y harness cable?

Geek mentioned about it to me at the field the other day.

Anybody tried this or know of a reason why it would not be practical? Only downside i see is the fact it has a join where the lead splits into two.

Yep done it! two of my heli's are 3g the 500 is not too bad to get to but 250 is a pain so the Y lead I've left connected permanenlty on the 250 & waiting for another Y lead to do same on my 500.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

      Hey.

Yeah it's perfectly fine to run with the 3G Y lead in place of the normal one and saves a lot of bother removing plugs from the main units. At some stage I'm going to get spares to do the same with my models.

I haven't yet but think I will as will be a pain to keep plugging in and out.
So y cable might be safest the changing cables all the time

After our chat about it the other day Paul, its what i am going to do.

Have read on other forums others are doing the same, so seems good to me.

Silly question... When updateing doesn't the instruction ask you to plug one at a time in, for software updates ect, so ull still need to unplug them later...

Thats correct of a firmware update, but you can also change the parameters on how each control surface works hence leaving the cable in place.

With a bit of forethought, Align really should have put a mini-USB plug on the Controller

When you leave the Y lead in place make sure you have it connected so that the joined by the single sensor&controll box are long cable &leave the single piece hanging down as i had a crash&I think it was caused by the joint in the middle moveing, hope this makes sense.

                  Yours,

                  Martin.
