  • 700 3G C of G....

    Evening all
Just curious as to how many people are running their 700 FBL perfectly balanced??
I have been experimenting with a couple of different RX packs

    I've been using a flight power evo-rx 3000 & evo-rx 4340
    the 3000 weighs approx 162g
    the 4340 approx 234g

With the 3000 my 700 is tail heavy and with the 4340 it's nose heavy

I've gone with the bigger pack for duration BUT had to add 30g of weight to the tail (cheers Tim Busterboy)

No this is working great it's just the thought of a weight coming off and going thru the tail blades that concerns me..
Just wondered if anyone has got around this??
    A more suited RX pack??

    cheers

Can't you move stuff about and use the lighter pack to sort the CG? I accept the nuisance of a wire run but mounting something on the boom block could be an option.

I have a 12S 600 which I run with 4000mah packs and that makes it nose heavy..fine with 3300 or less but i wanted the time.

There my solution was to add a small piece of roofing lead held to the boom behind the horiz fin with a hoseclip..no way will that come off and one could adjust CG by combinatin of trimming lead off the piece and then sliding the assembly a little..

CofG should be correct regardless of whether if it's FBL or not.
Check CofG with 1/2 tank of fuel for a good average.

Have you tried the 3000 pack with the horizontal fin removed?
      Makes quite a difference.

I much prefer to remove weight rather than add it.
QuickUK have a lightweight tail clamp if required.

I think the 3g unit says to have a full tank from memory?
        Cheers Paul

Maybe for the Align system it matters more than for others, since it doesn't have piro correction (AFAIK).
          I'm not certain, though.

That's correct, but I believe it makes more sense to check CofG with 1/2 a tank.

I have never taken much notice of c of g on any heli.

All my V bar ones fly fine,my 700N is most certainly nose heavy due to a 4200mah pack but with the V Bar its fine.

My 600LE with the 3g system is also nose heavy but it piros, climbs level etc and flies superbly.

I know you should get it spot on and its the right way to do it by myself i have never bothered.

First of all nice to see you posting again on the forums.

Seems a long time since you were last posting.

The main trouble with "most" 700n's is they are nose heavy so needing weight nearer the back than the front.

Other than adding a few grams (which is nothing really) to the rear of the heli its a case of moving hardware around.

My 700FBL was like most people's when I first installed it.!!!!!

                Elevator bounce.

I did several improvements "ie" got the C of G correct as stated here.

Fitted Edge FBL dedicated blades and adjusted the gain to suit and my heli now fly's superb.
