I'd think on it, and not overreact, a lot of people seem to have sold off their 3G stuff at knock down prices, the firmware update will be out in next month or so and I bet they will all start buying them back again then ;-)

The 3G is just a gyro on cyclic - so when skids are on the ground and you hold a slight bit of cyclic in (as in your case to counteract side wind), the 3G will command more and more servo movement to get that rate of tilt your commanding - as the skids are on the ground, this results in a tipover.

I've had a couple of minor tilts on landings which have panicked me, also when other people are flying my 450 FBL they've done 'nervous takeoffs' and I've panicked and shouted 'punch it', but never actually had a tipover touch wood.

I've found the golden rule with 3G FBL is not to hang around or move cyclic on the ground with headspeed on, when taking off, as soon as the head is up to speed then take off swiftly, when landing (either with power or auto) as soon as skids touch the ground then release cyclic and drop pitch straight down to -4 or so - if you do this then there is not a problem.

Landing cross wind isn't ideal, I generally don't do this anyway, but can see why this would upset the 3G as your holding in cyclic.

Its gutting to have so much damage without crashing, but I'd hold off the fire sale - at the very least once the firmware update comes out, you will get more for the 3G kit !

I have a fair bit of flying now with 3G on 450 pro, which is fantastic, I also have 250SE with 3G on which I wasn't sure about to start with, I have another 250 with flybarred head so flew them back to back a few times, now I've either got used to the 250SE 3G or turned gains down a bit more (I don't think it made any difference though), I am loving the 3G on 250, and haven't flown the flybarred one in ages - I think it will only get flown if I crash the 3G 250 while waiting for bits. I've just flown a shared 500 ESP with flybar at the weekend, and it flew really nicely, but would defo be better FBL - so I've just ordered another 500 ESP and will get the 3G kit on it from the start (anyone want to buy the new 500 head bits?).

Going back to flybar seems rash, as you will have to go FBL again at some point (in two years time anything with a flybar is going to look like an antique!), so only question is which electronics you go with - people are excited about the total-G, and there are lots of others coming soon, but you will need a head for them, so I'd hang on to the head at least - and you won't get much for electronics on their own.

Flew my 600ESP with the 3G this weekend, and really enjoyed it. Put the 15t pinion on, and the power on the stock set up is plenty for me.

Wind was gusty again, and did notice a few nervous moments on spool up. I think in hindsight, I must have not been paying attention when my 700 went over. My 600 danced around a bit, but as I was watching the model, any sudden movements were easily corrected.

Regarding the 700, I think I've just lost my confidence in flying the bigger machine. Flew it with the flybar on at the weekend and it was fab, but all I can see is pound notes. I think the whole model with the fbl will be up for sale this week. Want to push myself a bit this year, and I think I will stick to the 600's

          Thanks for the comments though.
          Cheers,
          Simon

You can move the heli around on the ground with cyclic on 3g and vbar it should not tip unless you force it to never had a tipover in hundreds of flights. You as the pilot have ultimate control over the cyclic whatever the system wants to do,you just need to be `on the sticks` from start of spoolup to shutdown and if it moves correct it as you would react in a hover if it moved.

Maybe i have just been lucky,my V bars and 3g are very well mannered

That 700 didn't half bounce when it hit the deck! Oh well, spanners out! Some nice flying as well mate.
