  • Align 3G with Edge 693 FBL Blades

Finally got and tried these Edge 693mm FBL blades today and can only give credit where credit is due.

180 grams each with the perfect length and not an ounce of elevator bounce with the gain turned up to 50% again.

Gazza was kind enough to try his new HTC HD2 phone at our field today and that was pretty good too with both static and video shots IMO.

No they both looked the same Tony.

On a serious note yes mate, The heli was using these blades to its max, It just felt so completely balanced and locked in without any sign of elevator bounce all afternoon.

I actually turned the pitch swash mix up 4% and was using more pitch with less bogging.

I also turned the 3G system elevator gain back up to its default 50% for this trial.

Don't get me wrong the SAB 710's were pretty good and I would have been happy still using them but curiosity got the better of me wanting to know if the "So called specialized" FBL blades made any difference.

              They do.

LOL,apart from one set saying EDGE,and the other saying ALIGN,and the fact they are black and white, yes they are very similar!
I like the feel of the align blades on the 700,cant comment on the FBL,but was wondering how the SAB's or the EDGE's felt.
Ill give them a go next crash, lol!

Nice one Tim, they do look like they could be the blades of choice, and interesting to hear you have turned the gains back up again, so they must work really well, thanks for the test report

Seems like the first test reports are promising. A few more flights on my 710's with the 3G before i will get a set... but i reckon a set will be on the way pretty soon!

On the subject of of the 3G system, what is the cure for a bounce on the tail when doing piro's? Pretty easy to resolve on Spartan, but the 3G is totally new to me. Whats the best solution?

                        Cheers

                          Hi folks.

the edge blades have had rave reviews in the U.S.

For FBL you will want a blade thats neutrally balanced along the chord of the blade rather than being heavy on the trailing or leading edge. The perfect balance point is at the blade bolt.

This leads to a lot less lead/lag of the blade during flight.

Edge blades are factory balanced along the chord of the blade.

Less head loading has been reported by many users as well.

You can check if your blades are heavy on trailing/leading edge by hanging them vertically from the bolt hole.

Radix (non SB) are pretty good as well .
