  • 3gx Piro Drifting

Hi, i have got the 3gx on my 450 in a normal hover it is very stable but as soon as i put in any tail input to the left or right it drifts off really bad, this maks may piro maneuvers look sloppy and make piroflips extremely difficult. When i had the 3gx on my 550 is also did this, but i know have a sk540 on the 550 and it can hover doing piros for a few second before there is any drift. I also had a blade 450x with ar7200bx it would also stay very stable during piros so i must be something to do with the 3gx, i know its not the best fbl unit, but i currently can afford anything better, if anyone has a idea of what could be causing this or what settings needs changed please let me know. Thanks.

Could be lack of human input to correct the drift !

i found my 3gx not too bad at drift to be honest, even on that heli.

Check the COG as you can probably see I added some lead to the front to correct it, make sure the COG is right!

What happened with the head speed issue?

Don't push the batt upto the servos, move it down the batt tray as much as you can (whilst still being able to fit canopy) that should help the CoG. You will find adjustments may still have to be made while piroing.

Quick search on Google found this : Pirouette optimization on 3gx? Like in beastx - HeliFreak

Looks like you might need to fiddle with the pirouette optimisation parameters ... or at the very least, check out the manual for your version of the firmware to see what parameters might affect it.

Also, AFAIK, you need near-perfect CoG for piro-optimisation to work well. Have you checked yours ?

            Hey.

As above check your centre of gravity, as this effects the piro in the way you're descriving.

Hi, thanks for all the advice. The cg on the heli is good played around with it and still no change, this is not a small drift as soon as any tail input is given it always takes a sharp right drift. it always drifts off in the same direction. I am going to try changing the piro compensation on the 3gx program.
