3GX changing from a Spektrum bind to Futaba

Ian - tried the rebind to Futaba 617 and its still not playing ball, I've ended up pulling this unit off the heli and sticking the one from another machine on, using all connections that failed with the non working 3GX the other unit work perfectly...

Just test hovered in the garden in 20 MPH winds rock solid.

I'll take the one not playing ball to a pal's house in the week and see if we get any joy binding with Spektrum Sat's as the previous owner used.

I'll let you know the outcome...

Thanks for all the suggestions in the meantime

Right been over to a friends after work who flies with a DX8, first off we plugged two Spektrum Sat's directly into the 3GX along with a bind plug and powered the system up. Turned on the DX8 and bound to the 3GX - It booted! We powered everything off and rebooted the radio and then the 3GX a link was made and both the gyro and gov lights lite up on the 3GX. Plugged in a servo and it moved according to stick inputs from the DX8. I'd taken my laptop with me so we linked up the 3GX to the Align software, parameters could be changed exported and saved. I then updated the firmware from 3.0 to 3.1 once again the 3GX booted following the firmware update. We then removed Spektrum Sat's and wired up my Futaba 617 receiver and booted the system - the receiver linked to my 10C as it had done in the past and unfortunately that was as far as it went.... So tried rebooting it a couple of times and it still failed. We then tried switching back to an external Spektrum receiver and had the very same issue as we did with the Futaba unit, power gets through the 3GX system and a bind is made but no lights on the 3GX.... Finally we plugged both Spektrum Sats back into the 3GX and its boots up normally...... Help!!!!

I suspect one of the two sockets that the patch leads plug into has a problem. I tried again with one of mine and as long as all patch leads were connected it would bind and start. We know you are plugging it in correctly. So the bad port is most likely in my view. Will wait for Ian if he has any other thoughts.

3GX changing from a Spektrum bind to Futaba

Only powering the 3GX via the battery in port, then using the power out from the 3GX to power the receiver...

Power is next to the bind port on 3gx, you should have with the 3gx set of leads that allows you to power both 3gx & receiver

                    Hey Buddy.

Oh a strange one that for sure.
You don't have a seperate Spektrum receiver you can try instead of the sats? So that the setup is the same as you're trying to achieve with the Futaba gear but only using Spektrum.
It shouldn't make a difference, but I'm trying to maybe work out what is going wrong.
                    .

                      Evening Ian,

We did have a separate Spektrum receiver that have the same results as the Futaba unit.

Is one of the cables (from 3GX to RX) faulty perhaps? Or as somebody posted previously - perhaps the ports in the 3GX.

                          Hi Tom,

It's specific to this particular 3GX unit I have another that I can plug in using the same cables, receiver and power sources that work just fine.

Interesting to read some else has had a 3GX only work when Sats are plugged directly into the unit.

No it was new came in the 600 dfc pro kit. In some ways its better than having a receiver as my other 600 that has a receiver some times takes 4 or 5 attempts to connect properly .
