Does any one use a Spectrum DX8 with a 3GX?
I do on my 500 and used to on my 700 which now has a vbar installed, I use the above settings with the pods pointing at 1 o'clock

I had 11.5° degrees for pitch and 8° for cyclic

if you want to compare some of your settings you can import my settings for my 500 here - BUT only use them as a reference and dont try to bind you model to it and fly it ...

I'm using Satellite receivers plugged in to the 3GX I wonder if that's the problem!

Thanks I will give it a Go. Do you use Satellite's or a separate Receive ?

as mentioned above I use 2 DSM2 sats as 3GX only supports DSM2 anyway ... once you are of out the setup mode you should clearly see stick movements on the swash plate, dont know how much it differs to a head with 4 blades but I would expect the same - check your travels and DR/EXPO rates (which are only to be set after setup, I simply use another setting on another stick position for this, so I flick all to position 2 which has 100% DR and 0% expo, where as my flight modes may have 100% DR but 20% EXPO on cyclic and 25% on rudder for example

Success.... (but I still need to fly the model) I did a model "RESET" on my DX8 even though I started with an empty slot on my TX then went through a complete setup Swash level etc my mechanical set up was still all ok. I then re did the 3GX setup as per the instructions and I now get "Loads" of movement on the swash partly due to having the pots set to 100%.

So the only thing I did different was to reset my Transmitter.

Thanks for all your help and files.

I don't have a governor but did do the throttle Calibration.

Yes you do need to go though gov so 3gx knows you stick travel as it did in dir mode with cyclic stick.
Once done i would then check heli in flight mode' check cyclic degrees as you could have as much as 14 degrees when you only need about 9* this you lower on pc software parameter aile & elev travel limits

Just remembered your multi blade so your best to double check 9* is about right for cyclic.

                          Hey.

Sorry I've only just seen this topic and other sounds like you're all sorted out.
From what I had read it sounded as if there wasn't enough cyclic set within DIR mode for the 3GX to have good control over the rotor disk. I had a similar issue myself recently where I misread the pitch gauge and didn't set the required 8 degrees of cyclic pitch while in DIR mode.

The multi bladed head is intriguing, as I've not seen a 3GX on a model wIthaca one before.
Now you're working well writing my settings file Random posted should make the model feel even better.
However we now have V3 software for the 3GX which will be even better for you perhaps over the V2.1 you are currently running. If you upgrade you will need to run through DIR mode again, but the main settings such as the swashplate mix values to set 8 degrees cyclic will stay the same.

On the subject of cyclic pitch, with your multi blade setup you probably don't need 8 degrees but the 3GX asks for this amount. I'd imagine anywhere from 6 - 8 degrees would be plenty on your setup.

Keep us posted how you progress and I'm subscribed now to hear of any changes.
                          .

                            Hey.

You're correct in doing this step, as Tourerjim has said. Basically the 3GX needs to know the throttle travel limits as it uses these values to determine what tail rotor collective pitch precompensation it needs to add to counteract torque reaction on the fuselage wIthaca collective pitch changes.

Remember also to perform a rebind once you have the model setup, so that your failsafe are set correctly to any changes.
                            .

Hi Ian thanks for the info. I did down load V3 I did not install it as I was having so much problems but I will over the weekend re-do the DIR set and set the cyclic pitch lower then re Bind.

I put a post on the multiple blade forum and the general consent was that it will fly a lot better and nicer with a F/B less gyro and doing some research the 3GX seem to be the simplest to setup but as you can see I had a bit of trouble.

Finally managed to get out for a fly.

I have upgraded to V3 and using "coolice-550e-3gx-v2.1.txt" file from this forum.
But its still not as stable as I think it should be but am I expecting to much.

The Video here shows it flying with the Gyros set to 100% I know that I'm not the best pilot on this forum but I can keep my flybar 500 in ome place but this seem so be all over the place.
I cant get rid of the Tail wag despite playing with the Gyro settings on the TX.
                                http://www.felbridge-flyers.org/images/Videos/heli2.wmv
