  • How many pads under 3GX

As above really, should I use 1 or both sticky pads to attatch the 3GX?

    Its going on a 550V2.

    Thanks

I used two pads on my 550 v2. Had it positioned above the boom.

Never had any issue with vibes, I am sure I read it some where to use 2 pads, not sure if it was on the setup cd or manual now.

Just remembered where I saw it! It was a setup and build video I was following on YouTube. I'll see if I can find the link for you when I get into work.

                      Hey.

Mounted up high on the boom block is a source of vibration, as the main gear drive teeth bang against one another. I tried my 3G at this location and it was not happy. My Vbar sensor is mounted on my boom block and while its not worryingly high, there is high vibes present than on a friends 550 with the sensor mount on a carbon plate held in the frames above the boom block.
If you want it mounted up here I'd suggest getting hold of another carbon plate to pop it onto.

By far the best position I found was on the lower carbon plate, between the landing skids and below the mainshaft. It's difficult to get to the programming button, but there is minimal gear induced vibes there.

I used a single pad with no strap, the foam pads supplied with the 3GX are pretty sold.
                      .

I had a 3gx and for me it wasnt what I was looking for, but I can't and won't knock the 3gx.

I understand why some hate the 3gx but no need to bad mouth them every thread, where I am at the moment I barely get a minute to myself, when I do get chance and have a look on here all I'm reading is how bad the 3gx. Getting tired of reading the same thing now when I actually get chance to look on these forums.
