3gx how you all getting on.

Hey guys had my 3gx fitted 2 weeks. How are you guys getting on?

Straight from the box it was great even in high winds. Although without the wind im noticing a bit of bounce during aileron tic-tocs and 3gx was getting very mardy on the exits of some of the biggest loops i have ever done. Im sure a few tweeks on the stop gains will sort that.
The tail control is absolutely brilliant, holds solid even in 30mph winds and responds smooth enough for me to gain confidence and start some piro manouvers.

Im only using the short main shaft and short links on my 700. I will be getting the FBL bell cranks and A arm come pay day so should be able to compare the difference. I had Jace from fast lad check my set up before the maiden (glad i did lol). I have had to set the swash mix values very low aile 45% elev 45% pitch 45% and once the upgrades are fitted I should be able to up these values for better resolution

Just interested on how everyone else is getting on with your own setups.

I'm interested in this too as I have a 3GX and a Beastx to go in a trex 600 efl pro & Trex 500, but which one in which Heli? I'm tempted to put the Beastx v3 in the larger bird because of the rave reviews it's getting but how does the 3Gx compare? To a complete noob on flybarless systems it seems that changing flybarless controllers is fairly straightforward?

I had beast x last year on V2 and it felt very square to fly although i did not give it a proper chance and sold it on. After fitting 3gx in the new update is so much better than the v2 beast but i cant comment on the v3 beast.
The only reason for me getting 3gx is everything in one box rx gov and fbl plus it has full adjustability on the laptop.
with you being electric i would be asking the same question which unit on which heli.

3GX on my 500 tail is rock solid & you can feel the control difference even compared with my beastx v3 so at the moment on the preferred edge of 3GX

hi all, i like mine, fitted to trex 450, tail is really solid just as good as my v bar, it makes big air just easy, it only took 2 flights to tweek it and its nearly as good as my v bar it just seems to overshoot in tic tocs, but its cool well untill it reset its self the other day and all the gyros returned to factory settings and down she came lol. still using it though

On mine it was nearly perfect from the first flight the only thing that really needed adjusting was the heading lock gain on the elevator, in high speed forward flight it would start to try to pitch the nose down, so I've been gradually increasing the gain and it's been getting better and better.

I think I may adjust the bell-hiller mixing ratios a bit to get a more flybarred like feel, but other than that it's really good.

Have you been adjusting the gain via the pots or through the software. I have moved both both of the pots to 1 o Clock and the 700 was much better.
It still has a funny kick on tick tocks and it hates doing big loops, you would get to the last section of the loop when all of a sudden it pitches up very aggressively then the entire helil violently shakes on all axis as if gyro was loose. I suspect its a happy medium on the gain pots. Gonna take lap top out today and try playing with the stop gains and electronic gains.

As you say playing with the hiller and setting it lower should help with pitching up tendancies.

Lets see what today will bring.

I've had fifty odd flights since fitting 3GX to my 500 & the only adjustments has been on the gain pots @ about 2 o'clock, so here's my view of it" nose-in take off's is unbelievably stable with no oscillation, very fast forwards she tracks like on rails also she's perfect if you like massive loops but needs far amount of neg to keep her on track when following out of the loop, tic toc's & side-on's are awesome, she just hang like a 90 size, reverse inverted rolls are incredibly smooth & continues, heli in full fast forward then shooting her into a high vertical climb im able to do 3 spins before any noticeable drop then coming out in a fast inverted nose in flight with every part of the manoeuvre being very stable is awesome, she circuits both ways with no real noticeable stick control, nose-in funnels are incredibly awesome.
I could go on & on but bottom line is" I think theirs far better stick control with the 3GX compared to beastx but takes a little time to get best radio settings to get heli to fly your style.
The only other continues problem ive had is a high frequency vibration from the TT so to achieve the above results ive converted the tail to belt drive for time being.

I had issues with my 1st unit un-binding itself a lot and some strange servo control,so instead of waiting 12 months for robbe to look at it i bought another while i wait.

So far its awesome.All ive done is lowered the elevator and aileron control rates from 70 down to 60 and it flies exatly the way i like it.The tails solid.Ive got a tiny bit of drift to the left which i cant tune out with the gain pots,but my swash is levelled all through so not sure on that one.

This is my first FBL heli (700N) and its awesome,its transformed the heli into a beast!.The roll/flip rates before with the FB were turtle like compared to now.Its a great package and very easy to set up too.

i did try one and crashed i now think it was an Align Reg problem no supplying enough amps


ive got a beast x with no problems but want to retry the 3GX on a 550

Beastx is way better on the 550 than the 3gx. Me and my mate both bought 550's at the same time. He has the 3gx on his. He is getting a beast on it now as mine is way better

Working great on my 550 v2. No issues yet, though I am running 1.2 firmware.
