  • Does v3

Work better on larger helis or smaller. I have a dilemma in the I've never got my 700trex flying nice with the 3G but on my 550 it's ok. I've now bought a 3gx but don't know which to put it on. Do I stick it on the 700n and upgrade the 550 to v3. What's the view here.

Take care with the upgrade to V3. Now found out that unplugging cable from units to use PC cable has damaged the connections. My 500 went in after 15 seconds with full elevator. Didn't realise it was 3G unit, put it onto 450 and it twitched and tipped just before take off. When I touched the connector the servos went crazy.

If in doubt, leave it on V2.1.

        Hey.

According to the Align V3 press release the major changes have been on smaller models and in how the internal programming interprets gyro signals into control corrections, essentially making it better.

My 700E is flying very well on V2.1 and at present is staying on it until I am 100% sure of V3 on my 450 and 550 which I test flew yesterday after the upgrade. First impressions are quite good, I have left in place my custom settings I worked out on V2.1 and so my next step is to try the base Align provided settings to compare to.

Along with others I have had to wind up the tail gyro gain since the upgrade, which is interesting but delivers the results of a well behaved tail again. I did have one tail kick on my 550 which is a shame, but as I put more flying time on the models I'll be better able to make adjustments.

With your 700 I do have some nice settings you can try on your 3G.

Hi Ian, would they work on 3gx. I've fitted it to the 700. Had a few issues getting it to bind but that was sorted once I remembered to put the bind plug in (doh)

            Hey.

I've not tried them on a 3GX, but in theory there is no reason why they would not work on it as well as the normal 3G, the PC based tuning program is essentially the same with the same type and style of slider changable options.
Your basic DIR mode bench setup will dictate the major flight critical settings, such as gyro sense, direction and cyclic limits etc and so giving my settings a go will not do anything so drastic as to risk the flyability of the model.

Give them a go, here is the link to them; Coolice's 3G Model Settings Files For Align PC Software - HeliFreak

Please let me know what you think if you do give them a whirl.

Thanks Ian, I give them a bash as soon as I get the thing sorted.
