Just been out flying my Compass 7HV after doing the re-set of the 3GX on v5 firmware. I'm pleased to report that it's flying great. The re-set solved the drifting problem completely, the gains still need to be turned up a fair bit higher than v4 but after the re-set at least I didn't need to turn them all the way to the stops.

Other than the gains I did notice a couple of clear differences :

      • Slight oscillation at low headspeed that was there on v4 on the 7HV is gone on v5 (possibly linked to lower gains).
      • Stop from pirouettes is much harder. On the 7HV the noise from the tail rotor on a hard stop from a pirouette is very impressive, slightly frightening in fact. This is nice on the belt drive Compass, but I'm slightly worried that the torque tube gears on my Align helis might not stand up to it, time will tell.

My skill level and windy conditions prevented drawing any other firm conclusions but at least now I'm happy to recommend v5 software.

I have a 500 DFC too. When setting the tail up make sure to set delay to zero and also on v4 software the tail locking adjustment had to be turned well down to prevent slow 'wagging' of the tail. I'm not sure if the same thing is strictly required on v5 but from initial impressions of v5 it does no harm to have it turned down.

So my pots are at about 1 o'clock. It's all good tick tocks are so much cleaner. I also think it's drawing less power than 4. It may not be the case but I feel I am getting more flights per pack? Anyone else feel this way?

Quick question: Advice floating around at the time of V4.0 was that the upgrade resulted in a higher current draw than 3.1 so going past 12 O'clock on your pots was inadvisable unless your ESC/BEC could support it. Is this still applicable to V5.0 on a 450 pro DFC with stock ESC?

Well I not only reset tx but also fitted brand new 3GX updated to v5 & the same as above is happening, i then uploaded my saved parameter file & the precompensation @ 0% has level the swash plate.
If anyones in doubt about theirs, in flight mode (disconnect motor wire) go full collective & check swash plate for level if you have the same fault as me then you will see swash tilting back a noticeable amount.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Just had another blast. Tightened the gain pots slightly to about 2 o'clock. With v4 I used to get 4 flights max from my 2200mAh bats, now I am getting 6-7. All good, I hope you guys work it out.

I've never been to bothered about twitching servos, I had it with 3gx since ver3.1 but it does not seem to affect the flight so I ignore it.

I tried upgrading from 3 to 5 today, redid DIR but still suffered shocking drift forwards and right.

Tried resetting and upgrading again. Will report back tomorrow.
Might be time to swap to VBar I think. Have a spare mini laying about.

                      Cheers,

I had terrible drift first time round too. The fix for me wat to flash back to v4.0 (which re-set the 3GX to defaults), then re-flash v5.0 and set everything up from scratch. This completely fixed the drift though the gains still do seem to need to be higher than v4.0.

Just looking at the higher gains and low delay comments, could anyone give me a complete outline of what settings I should use for a 500 DFC with V5 please?

I've changed the FW from V4 to V1 to de-brick it and it's now on V5 so I'm hoping that means it's fully reset

It's a new build so I'll be using a fresh model memory. I'm using a DX18 and DSMX spekky sats at 22ms, is it ok to use 11ms with the 3GX?

Some settings to stop me dorking it first time out would be cool!

                          Cheers

I can do some screen shots of the settings on my 500 pro if you like?

                            Yes, 11ms works fine.
