  • Vortex trim flight

Can anyone advise me on what the results i get equate to the heli settings.
    I got 107- 17+.

little wag on the tail too so a bit more gain is needed i think.

I think that is quite high, the 107 is slightly over 1 degree of cyclic that it has had to add. you might want to try and get it a bit closer, either the swash isn't level or your cog is out

I take it which ever side the number is relates to the side of the swash thats needs adjusting.

Not sure, but one is aileron and the other elevator so I would assume if its the sign of the number that dicates whether its fore or aft or left and right. By my thinking a positive figure on aileron would be right roll and negative left left. Elevator positive is forward and negative back elevator, just got to find which one is which now, i'll be back in a mo

Edit first value is Aileron and second elevator.

-107 is ail I think and it means its pointing right so you CoG is either out on the trim flight or your swash is not level. I had a high figure like that with good CoG but it was my seas, way off lol.

Also check your links as it could be those

Not according to fine tuning guide Ben the -107 is left aileron so I would say the swash is leaning to the right viewed from the rear of the heli.

If you take your right hand and take your first three fingers IE thumb, Index and middle, split them so they form 90degrees to each other and point your index finger in the direction that the heli would travel forward this is your control direction. IE Index (Aileron, Roll) Middle (Elevator, Pitch) and thumb is (Rudder, Yaw) Now take your right hand and with your thumb pointing out from your hand clench your other fingers, pointing your thumb in the direction of each of the control directions the direction your fingers point is the +ve direction of the control. I'll see if I can find a diagram

Given that the trim result is quite large it worth investigating possible causes (swash setup and CoG). But keep in mind that if a wind gust caught the heli whilst the VX1 was taking measurement it will affect the end result. So repeat the trim flight and if the number remains large you'll know the cause is in the heli.

To check if the swash is level make sure you are in one of the swash servo trim menus. When these menus are active the cyclic is forced to zero so there are no gyro corrections to affect your measurements.
