Any reason why your going to go for a Vortex over other systems on the market?

I have the beastX off my Trex available if your interested. Tbh I can't imagine a cheaper way of going FBL. PM me if you are interested.

i would say the cheapest way is a 3gx unit, and comes with all software and free updates.

i flew vbars only for best part of 3 years waiting on my sample vx1's. even without a manual and never programming one before i would say no one will find a problem programming it. just please follow the instructions as it is a methodical setup process that works. i think now i could setup one in under 2/3 mins as the setup with the pod just works so well.

even if i was kicked off the spartan team tomorrow i would hand on heart buy more vx1's.

there really is no comparing a high end fbl system to a mid range one. it does sound strange as you would think they all do the same job but think of it like a car, all have 4 wheels but some drive better than others. you will only really see what i'm talking about if you make the jump for yourself.

Tim- Andy was not sponsored until very recently and Alan has only posted videos to my knowledge? videos are a diff ball game IMO. saying that even Alan's video align USA made an attempt to say he was using the 3GX in one of their promotional videos, a genuine mistake on their part perhaps. i have not seen him on any forum saying x or y?

i personally have no problems with others posting their own experience but i'm very cautious about it around these parts due to being bitten before, sorry if that upsets some but just the way it is.

i will ALWAYS assist with any tech issues or general usage though as i have always done.

        cheers

My Vbar experience is limited so I'm still very much open on which to buy. Taking into account what has been said so far though, I am swinging towards the Vortex.

I like the idea of the data pod, having to go back home to tweak the vbar isnt a very practical option for myself, so doing changes in the field is a nice touch. learning a new system is no issue to me either. Its also nice to see Angelos so active on the site.

Still a tough call mind you, it's hard to disregard a system that has been dominating (in terms of performance) for so long and my logo does fly very well with the vbar.

It never used to bother me taking my laptop to the field but then I started looking at Android devices so I didnt have to take my MBP which got a minor scratch on it, might have been nothing to do with taking to the field but I started too look into Android not too long ago and ended up getting a new phone so I could use the Vbar app which is very good I must add but Im just very impressed by the Datapod, really I am.

Its still early days with the VX1 but so far I would say its fun and exciting and give me a few more weekends to really get to grips with it as I need to spend longer at the field than an hour flying all my packs in a rush to get home again lol to really play with it and see what everything does.

Well, I haven't totally ruled out the VBar. I have a slight reluctance to go VBar because although they are undoubtedly very capable I do see a lot of tweaking and fiddling with laptops going on and people on forums with their vibration logs etc. etc. Basically giving me the impression it can be very tempermental at times. (plus I really don't want to think about bringing a laptop to the field)

I like the idea of the datapod and I am encouraged by the positive comments on it so far. If I had the money right now I don't know really what I would do but because I simply don't it also allows me to wait for more reviews and feedback to come in.

I am still happily flybarred on most of my helis and my only FBL experience so far is with the BeastX and I know what to expect from it and how to set it up etc.

I think he's referring to the quotes of 3gx & beastx as mentioned in previous posts

high end to me means the best hardware money can currently buy. not a specific product. for example the vbar silverline has better HW than the blueline etc.

If it wasn't priced so close to a vbar I would try one but vbar for me does what I need so I don't see me changing any time soon

ah my bad, i misunderstood, but yeah at the pricing it is it should be good, im a lover of new products and will watch with interest how the vx1 does, i do love the fact its from a uk company and that they offer 50% crash replacement, and the idea of no laptop or tablet to the field is nice but having said that once its set up, well, its set up and i tend not too mess..

the way to look at this with any product is why should anyone with a new product disadvantage themselves with cheaper HW because it will end up the same price as the competitor. if we want the best it unfortunately does cost a bit more money. rest assured though you DO get what you pay for :-)

                        cheers

I cannot wait to have a go of the vortex...I am really interested in how it feels compared to the V Bar...whether I shall rush out and get one I doubt very much at the moment as I dont want too start taking stuff off and putting stuff on...one thing for sure if the Vortex is as good as the reports have been...the V Bar boffins will be busy putting the V bar back on top thats for sure...a win win for all of us......

Most pilots would get on fine with a BeastX. Be careful when reading reviews about 'the tail' as unless you are doing things like high speed hurricanes, funnels, advanced piro manoeuvres and even reversals then its not really a true test of a tails capability (and a lot of that can be down to the tail servo choice and/or set up). If you want a well proven 'Ronseal' unit (that does everything brilliantly) then V-bar is the way to go. If you fancy something that will work well, is fairly exclusive at the moment and will no doubt be developed further then the vortex it is. Either way that little Goblin will be great fun!

Well I've bit the bullet and bought a Vortex The clincher was a £40 off deal from FL as I preordered my Goblin from them. £235 for a Vortex and data pod I'll have some of that thank you very much! Thanks Fast Lads.

So to those who are still curious, expect some feedback from me in the future

VX1 for me, had a few issues with not reading the instructions properly.. Mailed Angelos and he replied very quick with the info i needed. Very good customer service from Angelos himself.
Also the data pod is a brilliant little device really easy to use and set up.
Its been well worth the wait.
