Thanks for that video Dave. It was absolutely spellbinding to watch. I would like to be able to fly like that. I will keep my flybars for the foreseeable future.

Kind of agree that you should do things the hard way, but the cheep way if going fbl involves an upgrade, I guess it depends on your level. I've just gone flybarless on my 500 and decided to go for an msh Brain which I really like for the flying feel, just don't buy it for the self level feature at this stage, it does work but can put you in an awkward orientation on bail out which could leave you in more trouble. I also went for the dfc head which again I really like. The downside of doing both these is the £220 cost to upgrade and the cost I believe I would have in a crash as I'm sure with the direct links from a DFC head I would do a lot more servo damage than I would crashing with a flybar, and that's expensive. If you're past the stage of crashing regularly and looking for smoother flying then I can thoroughly recommend the brain unit which I believe is very similar to a VBar in flight characteristics (better than a Beast X IMO although I have only used Beast X and Vbar on a few occasions so...) and not that difficult to set up, especially if you ignore the auto level element.

Those stall turns are hauntingly graceful.......

Bet he was miffed with his final landing though.... The rest of the flight was so perfect that the tiny bounce on the landing stuck out like a star in silage

Bollocks Don the point was you don't need a box of tricks to hover, or F8, of FF or anything for that matter.

I went with a 3GX because it came with the Align Super Combo kit. I figured it would be the cheapest and most convenient way to start, and then when I get more experience I'd know what to look for and what suits my style best. I didn't want to spend money on a vbar or helicommand until I was sure I would appreciate the difference.

I've flown the 3GX for about 30 flights and now I'm wanting to try a FB head, more out of curiosity than anything. I'm glad I started with a FBL though as crash costs are lower. I also think the FBL unit is more forgiving to bad setup as the computers compensate a lot, so that has helped me.
Both my 600 and 700 are flybarred but i am considering a new heli and really fancy trying flybarless for no other reason but to see what all the hype is about!

are you serious? Of course not, youve got no chance of ever becoming that good unless youve learnt with a flybar !!!!!
